On my List of Foods to Try Before I Die:

Honey ant. They store nectar in their abdomen. You pinch the body off, and eat their abdomen. It's like a burst of sweet almost-honey.

I challenge you to eat Balut. Or some live cockroaches. Or rotting maggots. Or rotting ham with maggots?

Or maybe soapy lutefisk?

Thank you for all the fish. It was a good run.

I have heard tell of Balut. These are fertilised duck eggs, am I right?

Yeah. They even have the poor bastards inside of them, waiting to be chomped by whoever wants to eat it.

I've never eaten it myself, because it looks gross, but my family enjoys them. I feel left out.

I'll get my honey from devastating bees' homes, thank you.

Even I wouldn't eat any of those, and I've eaten roadkill. Bleh.

Yeaaaah... if I want nectar, I will pick honeysuckle and pull out the thingy with the nectar on it.

Stuff was about the only damn thing that got me through middle school PE, honestly. Buncha' th'stuff grew alongside the track area and I'd munch in passing. Surprisingly(?) energizing.

Given I know how lutefisk is made, I do not want that.

And live roaches... Bleugh. Or rotting meat of any kind.

I've eaten chicken feet before. Too much bone, not enough flesh. :P

I always find honey ants hilarious. Basically, certain workers are told to remain non-working, and are fed constantly until their abdomens begin to swell massively. This makes them into near-immobile living larders for the other ants. (Other colonies of honeypot ants are known to attempt to abduct the 'rotunds' for themselves).

So... does anyone here vehemently oppose the cooking and subsequent consumption of canine flesh?

Roasted scorpion? Duck (which tastes perfectly fine)? Seabirds' nests? Beef sushi? :P

EDIT :I searched for lutefisk, and I realized there was an Asian version of it. :P Made from ray and then air-dried. Very smelly.

canine flesh? Gave me diarrhea.
Roasted scorpion? I don't eat insects unless I'm starving. Bring on the real animals.
Duck? Duck is very greasy, but otherwise okay.
Seabirds' nests? I have no reason to eat the nests if I can eat the birds.
Beef sushi? Surprisingly, kobe beef sashimi was delicious. Doesn't beat a good medium-well steak, though.

I guess my tastes are overly american.

Re: Dog: Meat is meat. Was under the impression that most non-insect land based carnivores weren't very tasty, though.

Sorry, it's more sashimi than sushi :P

It's actually not that disgusting, and one of my (female) cousins really like it.

canine flesh? Gave me diarrhea.

What? :P Canine flesh doesn't give you diarrhea, if that dog was properly bred like a cow in a facility and cooked well.

Dog meat is usually eaten in stews. Spicy stews. I'd prefer beef or pork any other day, though.

Looks just like any other stew. o_O
