Found a way to endrun microsoft's latest BS: Not letting you Grayscale or color shade in MS Paint. They want you to buy more expensive software....

Did Microsoft sell image software?

It's more that if they include something actually useful with windows, then people who want to sell some shitty upgraded version of paint will complain.

One thing I always wanted to do with the Do You Like Me notes is to fold them up and cut the edges and make a paper snowflake out of it before handing it back.

And not answer the question of course.
I will teach my daughter how to make origami shruken for that express purpose.
That sounds a useful skill. Paper shiruken.
Only if his daughter has a lot of paper to thicken the projectile, is a bad enough dude(tte) to save a president, or is someone named 'The Paper'.
This made me think, "Although her shuriken origami skills are great, she has a lot to fold before she can save anyone. But I believe MZ's daughter can save the president."

Also, it's probably easier to just package the same old Paint instead of adding new and useful abilities.

It became a lot better after coming to Window 7 — oh, my, it has cropping functions! Smoother brushes! Still lacks transparency! The Ribbon! Stuff!

And that was the story of how I became and Adobe customer.

... paint didn't have crop before win7?

What... what's cropping, again? I might be getting confused, I guess.

Paint and Paintbrush both had what passed for cropping.

You could definitely crop in all the paints. I assume it was just... better, somehow. Hence cropping "functions". Maybe "crop to selection" and stuff.

If in paint (and I think Paintbrush, but not sure), you move the borders of the image to cover up part of the image, you could crop it. Or you could move a selection off screen then change the borders of the image to make it look cropped.

Paint is only barely better than Paintbrush, though. :P

Before, ya' sorta had to either select-> copy -> new doc-> paste, or adjust the tiny squares in the corner.
Now, you can select Crop and just one-touch crop it.

... At least they improved it. XP's paint was exactly the same as '98 Paint, and '95 too I think. I wasn't alove back then, so no clue.

I did some pretty neato stuff back a while ago with nothing but MS paint. Just downloaded gimp and I can already see two things:

a.) It's a hell of a lot more powerful.
b.) I dunno how to use most of it.

Nice, I've had epic-fun-tiems with Paint also. Got an example of your work?

(I only join in on the Paint.NET support because it's just as simple as Paint and doesn't have a ton of pointless stuff you won't use in it for most of my work)
I enjoy GIMP for the exact opposite reason. If I'm ever really, really bored I'll just open it up so I can press random buttons and see what they do.

That and I've used GIMP since I was like ten, so I'm ever so slightly biased :P

Ah man, feels good to actually have enough time to GM a game that has the potential to have some good puzzles.
