I'm happy that, just out of nowhere, I got the idea to teach my 10 yr-old sister to play Blackjack.

I finally broke out my expensive chip set that I won in a poker game. After teaching her the basics of the game, I realized that even with chips to facilitate the game, the game isn't that exciting if there's nothing at stake.

So I made just a little bet. I gave her 30 chips at the beginning, and said that if she were able to double that amount to 60, I'd give her 2 dollars and some time on my laptop using the built-in camera to make videos of herself (she just loves doing that). She wouldn't lose anything if she busted out, it was just to get her more involved in the game.

I thought she was going to lose, and in fact was forced down to 1 chip, but she got on a winning streak and managed to catapult herself to 60 over the course of about a half-hour of playing. I was so happy that she won, and she was happy to get her prize as promised. It was alot of fun being dealer, and I got to practice my riffle shuffles some.

Next time I'll make it harder on her, maybe change the game to 5-card draw or Spanish 21, introduce a minimum betting limit, and maybe increase the end goal to 80 or 90 chips. and of course raise the stakes for victory. It'll be alot of fun :P

Gambling will be very important when the nuclear apocalypse rolls around.  Nothing like solving a dispute over a good ol' game of 'jack with a partial deck of cards.

Edit: Also worked on my script for two hours until past midnight.  Eight pages done. A few more nights like this, and I'll be good to go!

Gambling is an excellent family bonding experience.

Way more bonding than I expected. It was fun teaching her the right way to play atleast:

"No, sis, don't hit on 19. I'll beat you. For serious. You aren't James Bond."

I recently learned that a bay12er lives within a half-hour of my house. Anyone else live in the Farmington, MO area?
Not quite, but does Farmington, MI count?

Also, having recently read Watership Down and loved it, I may enter into the fanfic business. Some rabbits will meet a wild boar who is, indeed, an incredibly large ham.

Oh my! I was practicing my riffle shuffling, and following a helpful youtube video, and I finally did my first bridge!

Now if I can just do a no-table riffle, and not look so awkward and slow at it, I'll be so happy.

Drugs.

I take my ADHD medication "when I need it," so I go for long periods without, sometimes. When I start up again, it's like, dude, I'm like so high right now. Let's go jump over a building.
The feeling is similar to slamming 4-5 energy drinks.

This could very well go in the sad thread since it loses the effect almost entirely after a few weeks of regular use.
