So my dad is helping my grandfather sell his pest control business and right now they're in the process of cleaning out the place and what not. This means there's a lot of unclaimed items (note not work related items) up for grabs. Thus far they've brought this little piece back for me.

Obviously something that must have been mass produced if the 'Stainless China' text on the blade's other side is anything to go by but a somewhat nice piece to add to my collection.

So something a bit silly happened this morning at RIT. A bus driver reported seeing a guy with what looked like a rifle on campus. Turns out it was one of these:

An umbrella with a samurai sword hilt with a carrying strap. As the below image shows (upper right part in particular) some of them do happen to look like a gun from a distance. And thus, the legend of the Gunbrella was born.

They figured it out within a few minutes of it being reported, though the campus-wide alert had already been sent out; including text messages to all students and parents of students. As a result, probably about half the people on campus were woken up by calls from their parents.

We even got a news article!

I'm getting better at art, especially at observing it.  I was digging through some old pictures when I found a bookmark of my Ragnarok Online priest that someone made.  It's like it's a whole new picture.  I see details like lighting, shading, spots that weren't colored enough and so on.  All in all, the bookmark looks kinda rushed and sloppy :/  It lacks depth, as in any feeling of being a multi-dimensional piece.  Sure it's stylized, but hey, depth adds interest, and that's what makes art... interesting!

Little did the RIT security suspect it was really a gun disguised as an umbrella disguised as a samurai sword disguised as a gun. The perfect crime.

Started playing Vampire: The Masquerade today. Surprisingly fun, though I think they're over-playing the gothiness.

I also noticed a crazy person quoting The Dead Flag Blues. That was pretty cool.

I spent an insomnia driven morning coding random things from my Visual Basic book. I took the midterm for the class earlier (87%!), so I'm kind of surprised I'm not burned out on programming right now.

Variables are so fascinating.

The Monday after St. Patrick's Day is one of the biggest days for criminal defense attorneys. I don't know that we necessarily have a "Black Friday," but the Monday after Black Friday is becoming good for business in my experiences too.
