Also your avatar does not need to fully communicate your persona. Signatures exist too! Place within things you find amusing or profound.

You can also have a cycling avatar which loads a random image from a set whenever someone views it.

Yeah, that's the problem. But it sure makes your posts a lot easier to recognize which makes conversations easier to follow. I started using one when I realized that I accidentally read someone else's post as my own and that I was constantly getting scriver and Starver mixed up (even though they have two very different posting styles).

There's a way to set your avatar to 'randomize', which allows it to cycle randomly through a collection of different images. I don't know how to do it, but I suspect it involves some kind of eldritch ritual in which you sell your soul to Nyarlathotep.
