I pretty much always call it the US, it's simpler to say than America. But man, it sure is way easier to say American than it is to say US citizen. Plus, the latter doesn't really imply nationality, just citizenship.

My little sister got a call back from the company a friend works for about a job. With any luck, she will be soon employed. Is it nepotism if they hire a qualified person when a family member knows a guy who gets her resume on the right desk?

I think that's actually a requirement of being a Canadian. If you're overly patriotic, they kick you out. Or exile you to Alberta.

Their tourism slogan should be "Canada, Eh?"

Dreamed up a snippet of an idea for a Ghibli-style animated kids show; an egalitarian society of hunter-gatherer animals living in a culture that spans a subcontinent, who have never known organized governance save for councils of elders. The protagonist (a black hare) is a young hunter who uses her coloration to hunt at night. The antagonist (an older albino hare: got to dig those red eyes) claims to be a prophet, and splintered from their society in an attempt to establish a theocracy with herself at the head.

The dream was only a snippet of a few minutes, but had a lot of established characters with complete costume designs and personalities, including an ape elder with a fantastic headdress, an acolyte and grudging follower of the prophet, and some implied sidekick characters. It even came with a title: Verna Nox (Spring Night), which doubles as the protagonist's name.

I have a love/hate relationship with my dreams sometimes... it feels like I'm just remembering something during the dream, but I can never find evidence that they ever existed when I wake up. What to do with this one; I like it too much to forget it, but I'm afraid to do anything with it lest I find out that it wasn't original.
