I really liked SC4, but I can't bring myself to enjoy Societies much. I like the concept, but there's way too much micro involved. ;D RTS strategy works everywhere!

The real thing. It also looks like they have adopted some of the nice non-grid aspects of the road system from CitiesXL. You may now squee.

Also, Societies was terrible; it wasn't even made by Maxis.

Because everything with "2000" in it was serious business, at least until the year 2000.

I've played the first SimCity, and it was fine. Sure, it was entirely top-down, but it was still entertaining. I'm still waiting for a multiplayer SimAnt. Which they are totally going to make.

Hey man, "2000" evoked the future! Starships! Lasers! Cyberpunk! Flying cars!

...then we got there and found out we were getting G.W. Bush as President. Kinda lost its luster after that.  :-\


FWIW, I'm hopeful. SC4 was a quality product (although less stable and more prone to problems that SC3000). The ability to have your cities cut deals with each other was a huge new thing. I would like to see them integrate it with something like the ill-received "Streets of SimCity" or "SimCopter" where you had a bare-bones driving and/or flying simulator that you could use to travel inside your city. That's was pretty cool.
