That actually sounds pretty fun. Weddings can be a lot of fun, if the couple wants it to be. Ours was a pig-pickin', because nothing says love and family (and being Southern) like pulling meat from the carcass of a roasted pig while you're wearing expensive clothing.

Although I've got to say, Southern weddings are minor events compared to Yankee weddings. Down here, it starts around noon, and everybody's home in time for dinner. At the few I've been to up in New York and Connecticut, it starts around noon, and people have to be dragged home at two in the morning. And they usually are dragged because an open bar is pretty standard up there.

A friend of mine treated me to a dramatic reading of the first few chapters of The Hobbit in a myriad different voices. It was pretty awesome.
