PR jackass acts like a jackass, gets schooled HARD by the gamer community.

Long story short, this reject from "Jersey Shore" was the PR flack for the Avenger controller. Somebody ordered one, and after waiting around two months for it show up, emailed to find out what was going on. After a couple of dodgy and conflicting answers, the user pushed for a clarification, and the PR dude copped an attitude. It spiraled out of control from there, and the PR guy started acting like he was a total badass and knew all these people, including "the guys who run PAX". Cue email to Mike Krahulik, who joins into the fun and tells the guy he's banned from PAX. PR guy responds with "Who the hell are you?" and the shit is on.

Flash forward 24 hours: the guy is out of a job, there are viral videos mocking him all over the place, and he's basically had to shut off his phone and email because of the volume of harrassment.

I really don't have any sympathy. Check Penny Arcade for the transcript of the email chain -- this guy was a grade-A name-dropping blowhard douchebag, and he earned every bit of suffering he got. He'll be lucky if he can sell used cars after this. (I do feel kinda bad for his wife and kid...)

Oh, it apparently gets better. Dude went on a Twitter fest, cursing out IGN and PSN after they disavowed any support for him, then threatened to sell the credit card numbers of former customers to Nigerians.

It's increasingly looking like this dickbag was just some Scumbag Steve from South Boston with no business skills who bluffed his way into a marketing job by a lot of bravado and name-dropping. Oh, and a little judicious digging by Kotaku found that he apparently has an anabolic steroid habit.

I mean, you couldn't make this shit up any better than it's coming out already.

I have discovered that drinking coffee, without fail, magically nullifies my ADD for most of a day. After drinking coffee, I can focus superhumanly hard on anything for long periods of time.

That's really weird.

Isn't that how it works with amphetamine and ritalina too? Simplistically speaking, anyway. What gives other people a kick calms people with ADD down.

On a related note, I sometimes get very tired from drinking coffee. Haven't got ADD, though, even if I am fairly thought-spread.

Backlog of games? Check.

Backlog of books? Only 21, but still...

$95 worth of Barnes & Noble giftcards that are crying out to be used? Check.

2 weeks more of vacation with almost nothing to do?  :D The small things are the best. Also, reading about that PR bozo brought a smile to my face. Shame his family got dragged into it, though.

My regularly scheduled internet is back.

I had no idea I was so dependent on it. I did. I just didn't care.

Was just notified a few minutes ago that my grandparents are visiting for tonight and only tonight.  Don't know why I hadn't heard of this before.  Thankfully, person in charge at work tonight was generous, and granted me a half day!

Every since the "where are your nicks from" thread, I keep reading Pnx as Penix.

I can't unsee it. Though it does make me giggle a lot in my head.

Gonna go watch the first season of Sherlock, though I do feel a bit cheated that it's only 3 episodes long.

Oh, well.  See y'all around.

I saw only the first episode last night, but I'm gonna say it: I highly, highly recommend this show.  Well-written mysteries, good acting with many layers, and a scene which I'd link but would be ruined out of context (for those who have seen the show and want to know which one it is, my heart was filled with wibbles during the little "everything's fine" bit.  Brilliant).  All I have to say is "definite win for progressivism."  This is a good one.

Only bugaboo: for a show so careful about details, indeed one which relies so carefully on them, I'm not sure how Sherlock somehow escaped a tell-tale violin hickey.  Might have used a cloth to remove the point of abrasion, but... still... =/

Was just notified a few minutes ago that my grandparents are visiting for tonight and only tonight.  Don't know why I hadn't heard of this before.  Thankfully, person in charge at work tonight was generous, and granted me a half day!

This seems to happen constantly with me minus actually getting time off and replacing grandparents with general family visits/get togethers. I'm always the last one to find out and thus not getting a chance to even ask for time off as its too short notice. That said there have been several times where I wouldn't have cared for a particular event and work gets me out of it. Pros and cons I suppose...
