Either way, I'm seriously considering taking him up.  He clearly has a good sense of mathematical beauty, and more than that, he reads like a maniac.  I'm more classics/comic books and he's more sci fi/fantasy, but he's read a lot of good books and is clearly quite well-educated.

Plus, I think he quite possibly has studied as many languages as I have.  And he plays cello.

Finished a particularly heavy week of work. Had an important inspection and the store was scored highly as usual.

Bad publicity? Being able to boast that your food is so fresh that it's still good when you dump it doesn't sound like any bad rap I've ever heard of. Plus, and I may be quickly corrected by one of the more legal minded people here, once something goes into a dumpster it's pretty much public domain from there on out. I mean, the stuff in there is either not yours anymore, or is still technically yours and anyone taking from your dumpsters is actually committing theft.

This article explains how it works here in the UK pretty well. When I was little I was told all rubbish belonged to the crown but that looks inaccurate.

I also remember reading that some shop got sued by someone who ate something from the bins and got food poisoning. If I remember correctly the shop owners were at fault because they failed to secure their waste properly. This was likely from a tabloid paper or similar and I can't find it through Google so take it with a pinch of salt.

The people taking food from the bins where I work had keys for the bins. They were just those simple triangle locks.

My replacement 2TB drive arrived last night, thankfully RMA appears to be unaffected by the massive increase in HDD price after Thailand's floods. Now begins the joyful and not at all time consuming experience of copying 1.5TB.
