Rarely in my life have I found myself surrounded by such impassioned people. I love being back in school.

These are people just like me, many who have given up riches, fame, an easy life - and gone down the way of hard work, sacrifice, but ultimately benefiting the lives of countless people. Here, in this section of health care, it is not a matter of business and making money, but the bottom line is saving lives. And everyone is so cool here *____* Public health - Epidemiology. It's such a misfit band of nurses, doctors, future health professionals, and political/sociological/anthropological nerd junkies.

One professor is in the process of putting me in contact with one of her cohorts, a mass-published specialist on genocide. She was touched by my work covering the Cambodian Genocide. I'm pretty pumped, despite having a constant stream of horrific nightmares brought on by PTSD/Nightmare disorder.

The only thing more fun than planning to play d&d is playing...
This is why I like being a Dungeon Master. You can do both at the same time.

Yah I have a C in Calculus.  I probably have a C in Chemistry too.

I better not have a C in Computer Science though, that would be lower than I expected.  Neither would an E in Engineering.

I'd like some Anthropology please.

Grad school's awesome like that. I was always impressed by the mix of backgrounds we had in my program, and the caliber of the students. You could always tell the difference in classes too. A grad-level class would basically be a big rollicking discussion with everybody chipping in their two cents and arguing and counterarguing back and forth, and the teacher was there mostly as a referee. And the discussions would spill over after class, where most of us would wander over to the nearest bar and continue the friendly debate over beers.

When I had some of those mixed undergrad-grad classes...it was kinda painful. I'd have to consciously restrain myself so that other people had a chance to talk. Which they almost never took, so me and the other couple of grad students in the class would wind up doing 90% of the talking just so there wasn't dead silence in the room when a question was asked.

I is happy because I decided to take the first half of the day off and catch up on sleep, cause I was looking at trying to go in and work with 2.5 hours of sleep. After a few weeks of being chronically sleep-deprived. It's amazing what getting 10 hours of sleep does to your ability to look at words and not have them crawling off the page.

I get the idea behind the Meisner effect, but what the hell is up with that double levitation experiment? Why do thy come back towards each other?

Quantum Levitation is cool.

So, how long until the make a room temperature one with enough finesse and grunt to freely support itself in Earth's magnetic field?

That's pretty freaking looking, I'm curious how the doubled-over part works, but I guess there's no reason that stacking would matter at all.

Quantum Levitation is cool.

See, this is what they need to be showing kids in school to get them interested in science, instead of some filmstrip from the 1970's.

Also, is it wrong that the first thing I thought of when I saw the double levitation part scything back and forth was, "Man, that'd make a great trap if you used two steel serrated discs...."  :P

Once we get to that point, science is legally obligated to make us hoverboards.
