New glasses! I can actually see stuff further than half a meter away from me now! Not to mention I don't have to keep pushing them up anymore, although I still do because it's a habit.

My friend with the anxiety problems is apparently going to go see a counselor and maybe go on medication.

Good for her.

I'm currently freaking out about the dinner-party thing for later today, but on the other hand I'm also quite excited.  Go figure!

I'm watching The Dark Crystal.  On top of being horrifying, it's clear where the Team America guys got their style ideas from.  This is hideous, and the main character puppet has one blank facial expression through the whole movie, never mind a terrible voice actor.

I'm laughing my ass off what a shit movie this is, but I have to wonder why it's famous...

You're dead to me, dude.  :-[

Besides, nobody liked the Gelflings. Everyone likes Skeksis and Fizzgig. Oh, and the spider-rabbit thingies.
Goddamn, I was wondering what the name of this movie was for the longest time. I remember seeing parts of it years ago, back in a time where I've made every effort to delete those memories from that time from my brain(with some success).

I just beat Nethack.  I did it.  Yes.  Me.  Squid.  Beat Nethack.

Yay

That's my boy.  Er, girl.  I assume shenanigans were involved there, or were you abusing egg-laying?

I was a valkyrie, they're always girls.

Anyway, Slash'em's on the list, as is Crawl and the others.  First I want to win Nethack as a few more characters, maybe a ranger.  I want to do something that can't just walk through the monsters.  Elf ranger seems like a good one.  Chaotic, ranged, pretty much the opposite of a valk.  Also, weaker mysterious force.  That was hell, I dont' remember it ever being that harsh the other times I got close to winning.

Although you're right, I did lay an egg once.  I stepped on a polymorph trap wearing sdsm and decided to get myself a mount.  It worked for a while but I used a magic whistle in the minetown temple and the priest killed it :c

Eating well is always happy-making. Even the dozenth night in a row.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I get the impression Simmura McCrea went to their family home and ate home cooked food rather than went to their own home and ate. I could be wrong.

So did I, but since he explicitly singled out the food as inducing happiness, I'm assuming he normally lacks the time to eat well.

So my church's school library was giving books and I picked up four Jules Verne books this morning. What's great is that three of them are all ones I haven't read and one of them is an anthology with some familiar-sounding titles in it. So I'll have something good to read if I ever have the time.

Then, when we got home I resolved the issue with my mom's (HP) printer. I managed to find out that the wireless radio was busted before calling tech support, which was a good thing since the thing is past it's warranty, and my mom would have had to pay to most likely find out that the problem can't be fixed over the phone. So then I found out that she's at least eligible for an upgrade, taking down the information. I was able to do this all before lunch and discuss the situation with my mom during said lunch. I feel like a somewhat competent human being now. Nevermind. I didn't think to turn it on and off. That solved everything.
