Finally have some nice free time over Thanksgiving weekend to relax and do whatever. English class is so very stressful. I still have a trapton of homework to do so it's likely that this 'free time' is just a figment of my imagination, but when has procrastination ever let anyone down?

Thanks to this, I'm finally doing some more drawing when I can and working on my (pitifully inadequate) piano skills.

He probably lives in Canada: their Thanksgiving is this Monday.

On topic, this made me happy today.

The Buddha himself never commented on homosexuality - it's never mentioned in the canon, but warnings against sexual misconduct abound.

He never made a statement that homosexuality was evil, but he did espouse the virtues of sexual celibacy mainly because it's so easy to place yourself in torment over physical relationships.

A dynamic with the Dalai Lama's statement could be said about the male/female issue in Buddhism. For five years, "Buddhism" did not have female nuns that were equal to monks. It was not because the Buddha did not see women equal to men - but rather because 2500 years ago in ancient India, Buddhism was already causing radical changes across the entire board of society and culture.

It was eventually by the Buddha's mother and also his good friend Ananda that the Buddha
Quote from: wiki
is unique among Indian Religions in that Buddha, as founder of a spiritual tradition, explicitly states in canonical literature that a woman is as capable of nirvana (enlightenment) as a man, and can fully attain all four stages of enlightenment in the Dhamma and Vinaya of the Buddha Sasana.[2][3] There is no equivalent, in other traditions, of the Therigatha or Apadanas which record the high levels of spiritual attainment by women

So it is all about context in the society we find ourselves in and living in the best way that we can. At least I can say that I and my various temples had no trouble with homosexuality and I counseled a few that were cast away from other spiritual sects.

Hm... Reading the D&D 3.0 Manual of the Planes, there is a city on Mechanus called Neumannus. Interesting, considering what "lives" in Mechanus.

I just had the best meal I have in months, and it was ramen. I think I'm doing it right, since my native Chinese roommate said it was really good (maybe her birthplace isn't relevant, I don't know). Sichuan pepper and sriracha make a hell of a combo.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

After reading the General Sims Series thread, I looked back at a Sims forum and remembered a fun/interesting/funny topic/challenge. Caution: May contain nightmare fuel (or fetish fuel if you're into this sorta stuff).

Sims Challenge

You have been warned.

If you're looking for good Halloween avatars and/or lack ideas, some of these can help.

In my quest to build a level 20 mainly-fighter character in D&D 3.5, I have stumbled into enlightenment. You don't need to counter the magic. You don't need to prevent the magic. You need to ignore the magic; make it irrelevant. Massive amounts of fire damage got you down? Get yourself some fire immunity. Instant death effects threatening? Become immune to them. It does not matter if your opponent pins you down and has every opportunity to whale on you. If you survive everything they have, you can start to counter them. If you're not dead, they don't win. You can beat them eventually, or they will give up. Failure is impossible, and thus victory is assured.

Mainly I'm happy that my level 10 Fighter/1 Pious Templar/2 Level Adjustment/2 Warblade/5 Warforged Juggernaut was able to defeat an epic leveled force dragon with 36 sorcerer levels. The look on my DM's face was priceless.

Him: Thanor makes his spellcraft check to cast Pin to the Sky. You are pinned to the sky, and cannot move.
Me: Alright.
Him: Thanor makes a spellcraft check to cast Hellball.
Him: He succeeds. You are pinned, and thus cannot make the reflex save. Take 10d6 Fire damage, 10d6 Shock damage, 10d6 Ice damage, 10d6 Sonic damage, and 10d6 Acid damage.
Me: Okay, zero damage. I'm immune to all of those.
Him: ಠ_ಠ
Me: (~_^)
Him: Thanor makes a spellcraft check to cast Vengeful Gaze of God. Wow, that's a DC 419 check he just made. Maybe this dragon was too powerful. *snicker* Roll reflex to avoid full damage.
Me: I fail my reflex save.
Him: Okay, 305d6 damage. Thanor takes 200d6 damage as recoil, but scrapes on through alive.
Me: Okay. *roll concentration* I use Mind Over Body to replace my fortitude saving throw from Wedded To History with a concentration check. I now have one hit point remaining, though I lose 2 constitution. Err... wait, I'm immune to energy drain. I'm just alive, then.
Me: I charge Thanor and full attack with pounce. *roll dice* Natural 20, automatically hits. *roll dice* 129 damage.
Him: ....
Me: What?
Him: You have defeated Thanor the Godslayer.
Me: (°_°)
Him: (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

It's always a good time when the players can defeat the DM's "epic dragons fall, everyone dies" plans. On the other side of the table, my compadre used a thousand-limbed soulknife to launch literally 1,000,000 attacks at the various swarms of lesser dragons while I fought the big world-crushing one. Ultra high powered campaigns are my favorite.

Woo for immunities!

How do you have that many dice, though? That is a ridiculous amount of them.
