My school made about $18,000 (before fees, taxes, expenses, etc.) in ticket sales at the carnival this year, which was amazing for a school with 5-600 students. Until this year, the Broadcast Committee (my club of choice to help out at) had a booth where people could pay to play Mario Kart 64 or Duck Hunt, and we usually made about $500. This year I organized a full-on arcade in a classroom, and we pulled in a staggering $3,000 dollars in six hours, using only temporarily donated televisions, consoles, and our pre-existing music and lights.

I think this year we can replace our ancient discoball and get some spotlights to use on it.

Do that, and then this time next year, they'll be popular again~

Anime night on adult swim. Oh yeah. *though still looking for inexpensive sources of anime that doesn't involve pirating.*

Netflix~
If you're in the US, pretty sure you can get everything Funimation's licensed on Youtube, too~

Meanwhile, strawberry preserves are, like, the greatest spreadable food ever~

Huh. I always knew I had very mixed blood, but today I've cleared some things up, did some calculations and apparently I'm:
-30% Lithuanian (Expected much more.)
-30% Russian (Expected less. I'm as much Russian as I am Lithuanian. o_O )
-10% Prussian (Knew that, more than I expected.)
-10% Hungarian (Knew that, about as much as I expected.)
-10% Polish (Didn't know that, but I'm not surprised.)
-10% Slovakian (This, though, was completely unexpected.)

 So, yay, I'm Lithuanian-Russian-Prussian-Hungarian-Polish-Slovakian.

Playing Doom 3. It's fun, but was it really necessary to make it darker than a coal miner's scrotum?

Hey, Don't be rude. I'm sure even the blackest miner sack is at the very lease brighter than that

On an even happier note, my internet just sped up.

Yay! I don't have to wait half an hour to download 20 megabyte files!

Wierd Al's special was on an hour or so ago, needless to say it was hilarious.
I don't know why, but I'm constantly amazed Weird Al still exists as a thing.

I must have been amazed at this fact nearly 3 times in the past year, and innumerable times in the past decade. He seems like such a symbol of the 90s that I can't seem to make my brain realize he's still out there, making parodies and whatnot.
Uhhh...he's been around since the late '70s. A lot of his biggest hits came in the early-mid '80s.  ???

Went to my first NHL game today, Vancouver Canucks vs. Edmonton Oilers.  The 'Nucks are my home team and the Oilers are the team of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who I went to school with.  Pretty cool.  The only thing more I could've asked for of my first hockey game would be seats that weren't literally at the back of the arena; I was actually sitting against the back wall.  At least the angle was pretty good.
Oh, and Vancouver won.

:)
Good on ya! I live about 5 minutes from the arena for the Carolina Hurricanes, so we try to grab at least a few games in-person a year, and watch a ton of them at home. And yeah, I'd have been stunned if the Canucks hadn't won...they were the best team in the league last year, and Edmonton was the worst. Sad to see the Oilers fall so hard. We had a hell of a Stanley Cup finals against them back in 2006 to win the Cup.

Damn how I wish it only took half an hour for such a file to download for me. It takes, lets see...maybe an hour, hour and a half for a 16 megabyte file. Anything large, like episodes (of certain scaled down horses) can take most of the day at times. It hurts, especially after having faster internet for a week or so.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

This.

Also, due to my mound of homework, I will not be going to the AS bakesale preparations today.  However, I did write them a note on their Facebook page, asking them to pop a "regressive" in front of the "autism" on their statement of purpose to "research prevention, treatment, and causes of autism."

They deleted the note, but they also deleted the word "prevention."

Part of me is raging because they didn't leave my criticism there for the entire world to learn from, but... small victories, right?
