I apparently am a direct descendent of the O'Reilly clan (my Mom's bloodline), or also known as an incredibly badass dynasty. To sum up one crowning moment of crazy awesome. In order to win a bet for some land in a race, my great ancestor was losing, and decided to chop off his hand and lob it over (mind you, this was taking place on boats on the way to land), thereby technically winning by a toss up. The kingdom lasted a good deal of time and wasn't a bad patch of land either. I also descended from rather noble and well-minded (although a little off-kilter as well) people. Born leaders, total nutjobs, never a dull moment (like the rest of the descendents). To mark off the incident, my family coat of arms even has a bloody hand on it. I'm not kidding. See for yourself.
Fortitude- "mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, danger or temptation courageously"
Prudence- "caution with regard to practical matters."
In other words, it takes a LOT to phase us. Might as well slap Kamina glasses on that helmet and the lions.
Not only that, we're also surprisingly practical with whatever's on hand (heh.). So we're also essentially a family of MacGuyvers.
For more recent events, my grandparents were pretty hardcore themselves. Ol' Poppy, he was serving the Pacific theater of WWII, and was in command of a vessel. A kamikaze hit the ship pretty hard and it was up ablaze and at risk of sinking due to fuel explosion and other complications. He ordered the ship to be shut down and repaired. All this in the middle of an attack. The ship survived with nearly everyone on board surviving as well (aside those caught in the impact/explosions). I think he got awarded a medal (unsure which). My grandma on the other hand was also raising a pretty sizable family during that time as well (about the same size as my family is, since my mom is the 6th child in hers) back in the days where Brooklyn was still a decent grassy land, and held up pretty well throughout.
And that's just my mom's side.
Then tag on my parents who were Broadway performers. To put that simply, musicians and actors have it damn easy compared to the brutality of the amount of skill needed to be such a performer (Acting, singing AND dancing 3-4 nights a week; sometimes more than 1 show... Yeah.). Mind you, they too had to raise up to 8 kids (I think it ended just before or after I was born though (#6 out of 8 kids).
I know how prideful it sounds, but I am not exaggerating any of this. Looking back, I'm still surprised this is my family history.
EDIT:
Doing a little more digging, my family bloodline apparently started with a dude by the name of Raghallach which loosely translates into a Gaelic expression meaning "Outgoing people.". It's not far off. Just about everyone in my family (and me being a late bloomer in this department) are just batshit insane, and this is normal. When we're too quiet and/or reserved, it becomes a reason for concern.
Taking a look through other sites and entries, my ancestry reads like a DF Legends story.
