Huzzah, another weekend of ren faire tomorrow and the always awesome Guard dinner.

note: Guard dinner is essentially our guild master's thank you to the people working their asses off for the patrons, held a little early this year. Essentially we go off site to a small local western restaurant and book one entire side of the place. Then we proceed to feast and sing loud enough to drive everyone in the other half of the restaurant (across the kitchen) away including the owner of the restaurant once. Last year some of the waiters even joined us in singing and even added their own verses to some of the songs.

Zombies in Chernobyl? Sure; why not?

I've been playing three great games: Alpha Protocol, STALKER, and NetHack. Tomorrow I shall wake up late, perhaps write up something for D&D, and then have some friends over to play it. The weekends are so much fun when I don't have to do anything.

Watched Moneyball with a friend, it was a pretty good movie.  Had no idea that...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The title is UTTERLY wrong in my opinion, it's hardly related to what it's about.  It's about BASEBALL, and sure, money is involved, but is not the point *sigh*

Thanks to Running Start, I can spend my senior year of high school in college, actually learning things.  I've only got one busywork HS class left, and that's for something required of all Washington State seniors.  It's been a long time since I actually spent most of my time in class learning rather than listening to the exact same material from last year again.

The only high school class where I felt like i actually learned something was my programming class last year at Digipen, and that doesn't even really feel like it should count since the (brand new) teacher apparently taught us most of the curriculum from the first two years of the college proper.  The administrators are still somewhat baffled at how he did that, from what they've said.  Unfortunately, he's no longer teaching at Digipen because Microsoft offered him literally more than double his salary to come work for them.

Unrelatedly, the reincarnation of that Queen singer what who died.

Keep in mind the Inverse property of Value. As taste goes down the price exponentially lowers. And there is a minimum cap on taste with no such cap on value.
It's still ramen. The flaming nom noms of goodness were like 80 cents a pack. And the cheapo ramen, which used to be 18 cents a pack or so, are now around 25-30 cents a pack. I'm okay with spending the extra 60 cents for 四川 happiness. I'm livin' large like that.

Oh god, I can read those characters and I know what they mean! It makes me feel bad for being happy about having my Saturday mornings free from Mandarin classes.

EDIT: Also, I'm trying out vegetarianism for a while. Not for any moral reason (God knows I hate animals), but a) to see if I can and b) to see what less excess fat and protein in my diet does for my weight.

I love Running Start. I just wish they hadn't crippled it so that I could take more classes at my High School at the same time.  ::)

I'm off to a cross country meet, along with 1199 other people! This should be fun.

I remember back when ramen used to be 10 cents a pop (shame it's 30 cents each now; and that's on sale price). Used to stockpile those things like mad. Heck, we practically had a recipe book with all kinds of things you can make with that stuff. Personal favorite still has to be an egg drop soup variety (pour blended egg in after the soup is ready and seasoned) with a red hot sauce (the Chinese restaurant kind, the good stuff) with chayanne pepper, a shake or 2 of garlic powder, and a drop of soy sauce. :d

I think I tended to make them far too spicy however, because even tabasco is starting to taste bland after a few of those.

EDIT: ↓
Unfortunately, none of the local stores supply that variety. I live in a town of lightweights. At least the Chinese restaurant spicy sauce is still a good variety. Spicy and full of flavor.

EDIT EDIT: ↓↓
That's closer to the good stuff I was talking about. Bottle and everything. That's actually one of the primary ingredients I use. A good teaspoon (per flavor packet/serving) of that stuff makes ramen exponentially better. A full tablespoon makes it geometrically better.

Upgrade to habanero tabasco sauce?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Or sriracha. Seriously, you can find sriracha pretty much everywhere now it seems.

On that note...

Sriracha is tasty.  Put it on shinramyun and you've got a meal spicy enough to cause nosebleeds, it's great.

Except that it's horribly inaccurate. A lot of people I play with do exactly what the comic writer assumes they don't do.

Although it's harder to feel smug and superior like that.
