Thanks to a mahjong guide I read yesterday I can almost understand this.  I know yakuman are worth mad points, like for 4,000+ I think?  I can identify all the pieces now too.  All them pins and sous and mans and the directions and then the honor tiles which are weird.

Maybe we could play sometime...and maybe some shogi.  It would be the far eastern game night.

I want to get some friends playing, but I suck at teaching and learned from H games, so that won't help much~

I play mahjong some. TBH I've never thought about scoring or competition or hands or anything like that, I just play. I much prefer Go, though

Like the physicists at CERN, I have discovered a fundamental principle of the universe: the quality of a packet of ramen is proportional to the number of flavoring packets included and the exoticness of the ingredients.

Americanized "Oodles of Noodles" w/ 1 powder packet (all of which taste the same):  Meh.
Annie Chun's Noodle Bowl w/ 2 packets (one powder and one oil): Hey, not bad.
Korean ramen w/ 3 packets (one powder including cuttlefish paste, one flavored oil, one assorted dried veggies): Man, that's really good!
Sichuanese sweet potato thread noodle w/ 4 packets (one Sichuan pepper paste, one chili oil, one dried scallions and soybeans, one powder mix): FLAMING NOM NOMS OF GREAT HAPPINESS.

Seriously, my lips feel like I used IcyHot for lip balm. It's glorious.

Actually scoring anything is the hardest. I am notorious for my bad hands.

 Keep in mind the Inverse property of Value. As taste goes down the price exponentially lowers. And there is a minimum cap on taste with no such cap on value.

 There is probably another fundamental law on how bad for you this all becomes but that is for another day. Cup of noodles will always hold their mystery.
