Mahjong (the real thing, not the matching game version we play in the West) is kind of like cricket. Incomprehensible to watch, but when I sat down and read through the rules, I totally understood it. Then the next day, I couldn't remember anything and was back to square one.

I understand how you feel. Some years ago I was coming back from a party, and I swear I figured out an essential mechanic of the universe. I forgot to write it down before going to sleep it off, though, and next morning I could recall nothing except that it was pure genius.

sigh.

how come that on a moderatively active forum, where people seem to enjoy very complicated games, no one plays mahjong?

well, I guess if we cant get a match going, we can call this off, unless someone jumps on in for redking.

also, tut tut, working and still posting here ?

(and yet not playing mahjong?)

I would jump in if I didn't have to leave for classes soon. Perhaps ta this time people are not on? There are pretty substantial amounts of people whose time zone may not match up with central Europe.

And it's nine in the morning in the Americas, it's either work/school for those who have them and sleep for the unemployed.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

most people shy away from the difficult rules
