As promised the other day in the sad thread, here are the speedtest results from my RIT dorm. Putting them here, as they aren't exactly deserving of a sad thread. :)

In other news, I'm back at RIT. So far it looks like I may have the 6 person dorm suite to myself for today, assuming no one arrives in the next couple hours, which wouldn't be too surprising since today is the first day for moving in and is a full week before the start of classes.

I will duel you for your internet!

On a less silly note: That is what you would get from a maxed out 100mb ethernet connection. You may be able to do somewhat better if you used a gigabit card/router unless the limitation is on the other end.

We just got a gigabit router...our internet connection's bandwidth is only 12 Mb/s, though.

Ah, true. Though I have no other stuff available for my laptop (haven't tried my desktop though), so I'll just have to try the lab speeds when those open next week. I shall have all the internets, muahahaha!
And you shall never win this duel for the internets! I challenge you to a children's card game! also, if you lose your soul will be swallowed up by oblivion forever

I'm not going to bother posting a screenshot.  Apparently, I have about 1.8Mbps Upload, 15.88 Download, and 16 Ping (since my server is right across town).  I guess that's good or something, not nearly as whiteknuckled greased pigsnot lightning as Toony's Grandma though.

Except Ping.

Looks like on the same connection my desktop can hit about 115Mb/s down and 7 or 8 ping. Aw yeah. 8)
Remember kids, stay in school [they have all the internets].

Not awful, but not awesome either. Works well enough for gaming, except when it cuts out unexpectedly.

Works for games. And it's a lot better than the internet I've had in the past.

I'm laughing about how all our upload speeds are so shitty except for the Scandinavian that posted his in the sad thread.

Why do American ISPs hate small businesses?

I might pay $20 more a month just to get rid of the 250 GB download cap.

Turned off downloads while I ran this, it made a big difference. This is a mid-range result, I've seen a lot less at 6pm, and twice the bandwidth after midnight sometimes.
