Well, that sort of thing wouldn't be unnormal at my uni. About 75% of the students are female.
That's a reason why social science will be so much fun.

Where's the joke? Is it a pun on something?
Frequently referred to as just "The Republican Guard" The more times I have to explain to people the more I wonder about myself.

Oh, heh. I'd just read it as a "changing of the old guard". Maybe he's just making an obscure reference (I don't get it, or the CR, out here in Australia anymore).

Not just social science. Teaching and nursing mainly. Only real social science is theology, which strangely enough is about the only 50/50 one.
