I've seen 1TB hard drives both internal and external for anywhere from 70-100 bucks minimum. I'm sure there's better deals anyway.

And the UPS man just showed up with my new 500GB hard drive and USB wireless adapter.
O_O

...how large is this hard drive and how much did it cost? External or internal?
Standard 3.5" bay drive, internal. 500GB is actually kinda small by today's standards. I went that route because it would appear that the newer drives over 500GB tend to be far more prone to manufacturing defects. Something like a 1-in-4 rate of drives that are either DOA or fail within the first 100 hours.

Hell, Newegg was advertising a 1TB drive for $49.99 today.

Do SSDs even come that small? Heck, even USB flash drives can easily go above 8GBs. Reminds me of some of the more ancient computers, stuff that was designed to only work with certain models of hardware- including hard drives. Meaning they will only function with an equally ancient, incredibly small hard drive. My dad works with stuff like that all the time.

I... what?
Are you trapped in 2000?
Do you need someone with a time machine to come and get you?
I know a guy with one.
He's a doctor too.

I have no idea, and I'm not going to open the case try and find out. I must make this computer last me for as long as humanly possible, I'm a poor bastard.

My flash drive is only 2GB. It's like I'm living in a memory black hole or somthing.

....You realize you can get a 4GB flash drive in the checkout line at Aldi's, right? For like $10. You can put it next to the Nutella.

Or you can go to TigerCompDirectUSAWhateverThey'reCalledNow and load up. Hell, for that matter, I have a pile of assorted ~40GB hard drives gathering dust in my toolshed.

Oh, Mr. Doctor. You've taught me that David Tennant is my new favorite actor. Deep down he is everybody's favorite actor. Yes, even you, the guy who hates David Tennant.

Ooh, so I'll be a doctor some day. Nice to know.

But you won't have a garden-grown time machine.

Yes. an HP dv5-2045dx.

My sister's netbook only has a 5 GB SSD. 4 GB of that is Windows XP.
