FFVII is not a good movie.

It is, however, an interesting exercise in conveying information.  I was extremely impressed by some of the things they did.

Also, Vincent :3

Spirits Within was also a not-so-fabulous movie, in my humble opinion, and it didn't even have a certain narrative appeal... but maybe I'll change my opinion now that I'm not in middle school.

Yeah, I didn't hate Advent Children or anything.  It was just... awesome action sequences.  Period.  Nothing more to say.

I don't even think it was impressive graphically.  There were seriously some parts of the production where they were REALLY sloppy.  For instance, I remember noticing that the facial animations seemed really dull and rigid.  I paid attention in the credits and the entire film only had a single facial animator.  WTF.  But they had dozens of people working on other special effects like cloth physics and stuff.  Dumb.  Also, anybody who wasn't a major character looked like an extra out of an FF8 cinematic.  That bad.

And I don't think Spirits Within had amazing writing or anything... it was just a decent movie that was also an incredible technical achievement.  And most people seem to make it out as a horrible failure.

Okay, this weeks GURPS session with shadow and Janet when well. Last week had to be retconned (Character derailment), but we replaced it with a better session. Except maybe the part where shadow thought he was in a dream. And the case where I managed to make a crate seem like a cardboard package, which made me asking for a roll to open it barehanded seem odd. Also, eggs, and drunken frankensteinian monsters.

I found Spirits Within to be rather dumb. The hype about it didn't help, either.

I've never played one single FF game, for the record, and as a disclaimer. I dont even know much about them beyond them being japanese RPGs.

And the character that did this not only opened it on the first try, but managed to pick up the package with one hand with only a bit of trouble.

Also, eggs, and drunken frankensteinian monsters.

You forgot the thinly veiled romantic lesbian undertones with said monsters!

OK, does someone know what those  things that we all had as children were called? You know, the ones where you drew on a black board, and it turned rainbow colored?

I think the problem there was that I asked for your basic lift and did the crude math for how holding it with two hands would be. Janet's character couldn't because it was more than 8 times over hers
