You know, that comic has always seemed out of place to me. The artist seems to be a serious transhumanist and technophile. It always seemed odd to me how she made a comic like that.

He. And hey, who wants to be serious all the time?

Pretty sure it's parody, through and through.

Well, the series does indeed poke fun at those concepts, but I'm not sure it's wholly a parody, though.

It's a joke/commentary about the standard sci-fi trope of man's knowledge advancing too far and bringing about ruin simply through technology alone. It's the fear perpetrated through things ranging from Skynet in Terminator all the way to the mundane like Fox News blathering about how video games, or whatever the newest media form is at the time, will turn your children into mindless killing machines. It's a joke about how bad modern sci-fi is when it comes to warning about what turn out to be non-existent evils of the future.

In this case, it's done by imagining sci-fi in a past setting, in a time in which humans were gaining powers which enhanced the quality of life and allowed us to become the dominant species we are today, but powers which were really unprecedented on this planet and in at least the case of fire, were attributed to the gods.

Dresden Codak is my favorite webcomic simply because it can take several reads through before the entirety of the message becomes clear. It's even got one comparing life to a Ponzi Scheme. :D

So today, it was bumpy at first, tiring, went through shit nearly as soon as I got back home... Things looked like it was gonna be a shitty day.

Then I had a really nice talk with my big (little) sister, got things patched up with my friends and a game we were playing, and watched 12 Raocow videos with my girlfriend and one of said friends.

You know, today was pretty good. Despite having at most three hours left to do whatever and losing a lot of time to annoyance... It was good.

I didn't get any work done today, and I ate two eggs and two peanut-butter-and-honey sandwiches.

Gotta work on that.

But I feel happy and peaceful, and I'm really enjoying playing mafia.  That, and I'm really glad I didn't have to go stay in that shitty housing with the racist dude.  And my parents are coming tomorrow, so I may be able to eat yummy African foods.  That's great, too.

Been having so little luck locally, I've been looking into international work over the Summer. Apparently a willingness to travel opens up a significant number of job opportunities, most of which pay well. I don't know if they'll pan out, but the thought of working on the Mediterranean Sea is a pleasant one.

My mom gets paid a fairly large amount, but she's gone every other week. Make sure you take into consideration how well you'll be able to deal with massive amounts of plane travel and being away from friends and home so much.

This. Is amazing. And I'm learning it on piano :D

For you people that don't click on links unless information is presented, it's the Tetris theme. Looped for 10 hours. I'm not learning the 10-hour version on piano though :P

I can play that on my guitar, fingerstyle.
Or rather, I learned the original Russian folk song and improvised a bass line.
It's a fun song, learn to sing it too.

Yeah, it's Korobeiniki, I just derped and left that out :P I really like it, but I can't really speak Russian, much less sing it.

It's actually a pretty easy song to sing.
Just look up versions on Youtube with singing, especially with lyrics, and sing along.

I want to learn to sing along with this. It's probably just another song if you speak French, but I don't, and it sounds beautiful.

Bluh, this is a derail, and a pretty lame one at that. That tends to happen when I'm involved in the conversation; shall we rerail?

After having a streak of shit luck on Doom RL, I have found about 8 exotics and 2 uniques in one game. This makes me happy.

Team Fortress 2. It was High Tower. I was a sniper. You can see where this goes.

I had something like a 3.67 KDI by the time I left the server.
