Ooh, spacechem.
Also, now I know why people like redbull. I feel better then when I woke up today! Saving this stuff for when it's needed, because this is one thing I do not want a tolerance to.
Yeah, it sucks when you need to drink loads just to feel an effect.

Just saw Fight Club for the first time, as well as Donnie Darko.

I hold you all at least partially responsible for my not having seen these before now.

What's that smell? The smell of not doing the nineties right, blarg. (I watched in 2006).
On the topic of FF 4: I had Galuf as a caster from the beginning because Red magic is retarded, and Gravity+Bio is usually amazing to use, and then Faris was the thief or whatever (she ended up being samurai later on, but her speed and throwing shit made it work out well) and Bartz was...A hashed together Paladin I guess (Knight to lvl 3, Blue Magic to lvl3, Ranger to lvl2, ect) and then lenna was Healing, and whatever class worked at the time. I had everyone train their skills so they could use better classes to round them out.

I liked VIII because it was probably one of the best (fantasy) depictions of being a teenager, through metaphorical speech, that I've ever seen.  Eeeeeeever.  Squall was an angsty ass who everyone else calls out for it, at the same time as they pull all their own stupid shit.  The writers didn't do the usual thing of "OMFG cool teenager."  Squall rolls around on his bed thinking about the past and stonewalling people in a way that everyone else gives him crap for--just as you'd expect.  His father figure (Cid) isn't the usual cool son -> COOLER FATHER stereotype.  He's strong in many ways, but also has some ineffectual and horrible sides to him.  Same thing goes for Laguna.  I just thought that somehow, all the characters seemed very real to me, despite their rather severe lack of development in some cases.

That, and Ultimecia-Rinoa is a scary, scary thing.

Hurm... and I really liked the airship in that one.  The Ragnarok, I mean.  And the "consciousness moving through different times" mechanic, since Laguna is one of my favorite characters.

Been inventing bands and their names + fonts. So far I have Spectre, a slightly occult themed neo-thrash band, Dontwannabeold, a sort of ambient/prog band (they are really pretentious), Bad Stuff, a sort of raunchy blues-rock band, and Medicine, a probably quite shit Death Metal band.

EDIT:
Just added Hoarfrost, a british folk/black metal band. They actually sound pretty interesting, I think.

I have a few fictional metal bands that show up in my drawings when I'm bored.

Spinal Fracture (though that sounds like a real band 0_o) is a fictional new wave thrash metal band in which my friend supposedly will play drums.
If I'm drawing stickmen, the band will be SkullStick.
Also theres Bobutės Faršas (Grammies Mince) which is an over-the-top obnoxious death metal band. What would you expect from such a name?
Oh, and there's My Suicide which is a parody of metalcore shit.

Member of Pestilence - a british punk band.

Screaming Earth - folk/sludge. Make sense of that somehow.

All these "band" names are reminding me of the vegetable Death Metal discussion...

Bwahaha, that was my one!  :D
 Yours was Cabbage Corpse.

Also, Bleedcarrot is the god of progressive vegetable metal.

Edit: Korn ruined the genre though. :|
Edit: And Kabbage Boy too.

Bleedcarrot? I think their best song is "Bleeding Carrots". After all, who could forget the chorus that was "CAAAROOOOOOTSSS! BLEEEEEEEEED! FOOOOOOOOOR! JUUIIIIIICE!"

Anyway, having Vegetable Metal brought up again made me rather happy.

Dresden Burned - Deeply depressing avant-garde prog/dark ambient band.

Holiday in Summer - ridiculously happy neo-folk band.

FF8 was... sad really. I loved the story, and as you say, the characters were very well-written. Some further development AWAY from being a normal whiny teenager might have been nice, but it was still good. Problem is? Same as 12, I was unable to even finish the game, because the battle system was just too frustrating. It's not as bad as some claim, but it's rather frustrating being PUNISHED for using the magic I worked so hard to get. Makes the best strategy to just slap 99 ultimas on everyone's strength and hit attack over and over.
