I killed Doctor Who the other day.  I told him Quantum Leap was better and he just kind of blew apart.

Yeah, this is in the happy thread, take that as you will.

Tried playing the Nothing Else Matters solo after having not done so for months and not having done it very well when I did. Much improvement.

On the one hand, a mouse just ran out of my room.
On the other, this is a temporary housing situation, and I will be out of its hair (fur?) soon enough.
Also on this hand, an announcement on Facebook has just informed me that Code Lyoko, my favorite childhood show (that is to say, 4 years ago) is getting some form of new season.  I'm calling today a win so far.

Have you ever considered actually saying things in posts?
Nope.  :P

Stumbled across this quote:

Quote
"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

Interesting use of the word 'can' there. In my case they did nothing whatsoever and bored me slightly.

And that was the sound of a million nerds denouncing me a heretic.

I personally found LoTR boring too. Yet... I did like The Hobbit.

I love LotR, wasn't fond of Atlas Shrugged.

Maybe y'all just weren't sufficiently "bookish".

I remember being fairly bored by the first book as a kid too. It was only when I went back as an adult and read it again that I really appreciated it. And being a history geek, I'm one of those rare birds that totally loves the Silmarillion.

Atlas Shrugged? Good title, because I shrugged too. I'll never quite understand why Rand has such a following.

EDIT: Totally unrelated tangent, I watched The Secret of Kells over the weekend. Damn, that was a gorgeous film. Bit of an abrupt ending, but the artwork more than made up for it. Actually my whole little foreign film mini-fest was good. The Good, The Bad and the Weird singlehandedly piqued my interest in the Korean film industry. That movie is hella fun to watch.
