Got a large glass of Carolans (Cream, Wine and Honey. Think Baileys, but different), and a Banana. Not a bad midnight kitchen raid. Could've done with a bit more to eat, but the toaster beeps too loudly and I don't like the bread we have untoasted.

What is wrong with me and how do I fix it D:

I'm not replying to this because it would just make everyone angry  :-\

Now I'm kind of curious about what you were going to say.

Anyway, I've been reading "You Damn Kid!" which is a rather hilarious webcomic about the author as a child. This is probably good representation of what it's about. One of the main themes of the strip seems to be the contrast between how things really are and how people actually behave and such things are portrayed in polite society.

True.  The ever-evolving ways Kojima and his team come up with to allow the player to mess around with soldiers makes the gameplay a unique experience if you know what you're doing.  But there's a lot of games I can dick around with mooks in, without 45 minute cutscenes.

Bah, well, I cut my eyeteeth on Final Fantasy.  45-minute cutscenes do not faze me in the least

oh god make it stop
Xenosaga on the other hand, had a cutscene early in the game that ran so long they decided to put two save points during it.

Blackberry wine is yes. EvenEspecially if it's dirt cheap.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Oh SpaceChem, you give me the kinds of headaches I much prefer over the stress-based kinds from work (freelance design and otherwise). If the demo alone was this freaking difficult (full-optimization being my primary goal each level), I can imagine how horrifyingly difficult the rest of the full game could be. I'm getting the full game. This is too fun.

Man. Blackberry wine is simply divine. It among wines is king.
Also, should you ever see a pomegranate wine, back away slowly and don't look back. :shudder:

Heh, personally I didn't think the demo was that hard, but I love these kinds of puzzle games. There's a wonderfully delicious feeling you get when you complete a difficult level. I especially enjoyed alchemical engineering for how much fun it was to watch my machines in action... all those little arms moving in a coordinated fashion to slip molecules past each other...

Anyway, if you think the demo is hard... well I don't think you're going to get very far, I only got as far as the level where you shoot down asteroids... It was just too dynamic, I couldn't get the entire thing to balance out right, which frustrated me, and not in the good way the game usually does...
What I'm trying to say is... I hope you enjoy failing as much as I do ;)

Well, the game really isn't that hard in itself, it's just getting full-optimization each level that ramps up the difficulty (and I focus on a per-level basis), and making sure all the timings are precise and compact as hell with the fewest parts possible that's the real challenge. It's making these uber-efficient machines that gives me the headaches.

EDIT:
Made it to world 3. Now things are getting more interesting.

That or asking if they wanna go out. Really I don't get how it's supposed to appear objectionable unless you're really THAT sensitive.
I meant, the usual "She said yes" statement is from a proposal.
I knew what he meant, I was just commenting on how awkward that wording was.

Also, god damn this thread moves fast.
