As is now pretty common lore, David Hayter was not instructed to make Old Snake sound like he was gargling hot nicotine while he talks, Hayter made him sound all roached out of his own volition, since he's assumed the role of Snake so much over time.

In addition, Hayter has not only played every single Metal Gear game, but he used half of his salary for making The Twin Snakes to bribe the original Metal Gear Solid voice actors into reprising their roles. Talk about dedication to your art.

Or just watch the Let's Play's, in roughly chronological order, as played by a guy who knows them way too well.  With characterful commentary no less.  Caveman Snake and Bucket-List Snake are so spot on to the kind of slapstick dickery the game allows that it's hard not to believe that's actually Snake's internal monologue.

And yeah, it even includes the re-releases of Metal Gear 1 and 2, so you get the full full story.  Including the "legendary" duel between Snake and Grey Fox, where he runs around in a square while Snake punches him like a whack-a-mole.

Bah, I'm watching through IV a little right now because I need something light to do before getting off my ass and going back to studying... but I do want to play at least a little, because the last time I did so was 3 years ago +.  They were really fun >_<

True.  The ever-evolving ways Kojima and his team come up with to allow the player to mess around with soldiers makes the gameplay a unique experience if you know what you're doing.  But there's a lot of games I can dick around with mooks in, without 45 minute cutscenes.

Bah, well, I cut my eyeteeth on Final Fantasy.  45-minute cutscenes do not faze me in the least

oh god make it stop

I miss the lengths people used to go to hide easter eggs.

Also my suggestion vector, Play MGS1 or twin snakes, and MGS3. Watch MGS 2 and 4, They're really rather boring to actually play.

I always treat those unskippable cutscenes as the game's way to tell me "Okay smartass, it's time for a break. Get your starving behind into the kitchen and fucking eat something!"

Hurm, okay.  I'll try to at least play the first one and see how I like it =)

I can offer a hug if you want? Don't know you well enough to offer anything special. Or valuable.

Today I bought a book at an ~85% discount (he was making a loss selling it to me like that, heh heh) and had the author personally sign it for me, so I'm happy. The book's interesting, too.

<3 Pandora.

Finally got around to setting up a [FAVORITE BAND] station, and was extremely satisfied with the results.

Also, John Williams. Falling asleep was never so epic.
