One of these days, I need to watch Event Horizon, so people will stop telling me about it, and all these "references" will finally make sense.

Kinda related I guess.

Is that a mindscrew too?  Because if it is, it's on my slate for summer mindfucking.

... Summer mindfucking.

Vector I just love how that sounds. I should make that a yearly event here at home.

Hell maybe I should find some movies and stream them on my stream for group mindfucking

It was explicitly pitched as "The Shining, in a space ship".  Supposed to be "cult-good", as in bad unless you want it to be good, from the same director who went on to make the Resident Evil movies and such after Event Horizon tanked his career.  I dunno, it looks pretty cool, but I've never been a horror movie fan (as in real Horror movies like The Shining or Exorcist, not scream-cranks).  They never seem all that startling, just weird.

Well now, this is an impressive thing.

Mostly linking here because it included music from each reference, which was pleasant.

I watched Donnie Darko once, and I really need to watch it again because I can't remember I darn thing about it.

Haha, I'm glad you like it.  I discovered a love for mindscrew a few years back, and last summer I ended up watching loads of mindfucks to help me unwind... so for me, I'm sort of hoping to do a yearly event, too, as long as there's enough of that sort of movie and book and game lying around.

And I'm trying to move somewhere with a better net connection, so that I will be able to indulge in your lovely streams.  If you do decide to run that stuff this summer, I'll definitely try to pop by and watch.

Highly recommend Perfect Blue if you haven't seen that one.  Also Mind Game, which is only 25% mindfuck plot-wise, 100% mindfuck animation-wise, and 200% awesome movie.

Event Horizon was pretty cool, and Warhammer's right.  It's pretty much How Mankind Discovered the Warp, the Movie.

It's way better than the official 40k movie which was terrible.

I would participate in group mindfucking via stream.  LIke a swinger's party for our brains.

Followed shortly by Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for reverse-mindscrew!

I got a really random question for you guys, and since I also like using my thread as my personal questions asking place...

What would you guys say is the best Elite type game? I'd been hooked on ascii sector for some time but I'm just asking if anything better is out there.

Free? Oolite. http://www.oolite.org/ It's basically modern day Elite, and you can mod it as you wish.

Perhaps: http://privateer.sourceforge.net/news.shtml Wing commander: Privateer remake.

Elite-esque games...

Freelancer - great all around, lots of mods too. Limited universe unless you get mods like discovery, which can be amazing online, but a bit of a grind. Old game, cheap/easy to acquire.

Evochron Mercenary <-emphatically recommended as a space SIM (actual newtonian physics modeling but balanced for game/not planes in space) Has online, using your offline profile and back and forth.

X-series (X3:Terran conflict) - Economics IN SPAAAAAAAAACE. Sometimes said to be EVE Offline in terms of scale. It's great but can be a huge grind/slogfest. Amazing with mods. Lots of eyecandy.

I-War 2 - on gog. Great game, newtonian physics model. Combat kind of unwieldy thanks to that physics. Evochron does it better.

Seconding Oolite.
It's always been a favourite of mine (probably because it was one of the few games I could play on my old mac).
