Oh my, what be this?

Going to rewrite it later and add some bass, too, but hey, it's a pretty nice start.

I took the SAT this morning, and it was....bittersweet. Good in that, I'm fairly certain that my score will be as good as/better than what I've gotten on the several PSAT tests I've taken, but bad in that it....rather shockingly, disappointed me. The SAT was hyped to me for years, but at some of the questions I got the impression that they weren't even trying to make it difficult. Only the grid-in math was very challenging, and the dreaded essay section ended up being sort of fun to write.

I literally don't know how to respond to that, as it flies in the face of everything I have ever been told about the SAT.

Yes.

Ahhh, I wouldn't worry about it.  I didn't even study for mine either time I took it... it's hyped way too much, and I feel like getting a perfect score is way too lauded.  In my area, the kids who did perfectly went on TV, they were accepted to Harvard, etc., etc.... it's just one test  :-\

Seriously, you can get a 37 on the ACT or a 2401 on the SAT with a few grand and no studying.

HUh, that reminds me, my english teacher told me I should try to apply for Oxford.

I appreciate the thought, but I doubt I'm qualified.

There were two questions I didn't know on my algebra EOC, and was quite possibly the easiest standardized test of my life. The woman LIES!

It's made so that the minimally-passing high school student will get an average score. The only part I found difficult was the essay part, but that's because I knew nothing about the prompt and I usually do research for quite a while beforehand when writing an essay. It threw me off, it did, to not be able to back up any of my statements.

It's hyped way too much, and I feel like getting a perfect score is way too lauded.  In my area, the kids who did perfectly went on TV, they were accepted to Harvard, etc., etc.... it's just one test  :-\
Aye, all the college-finding websites I've seen tell me that it's a combination of all your activities, your grades, and your test scores that helps you get accepted, not just one test. However, it is very helpful. I wasn't getting much information from colleges at all until I took the SAT last December and got an 800 on the Critical Reading part. The only downside is that they now all want me to go into their English departments, which would be hell on earth.

I'm more of a fan of the Subject Tests, which lets colleges know what kind of stuff you're good at directly. Math Level 2, Physics, and World History are the ones I'm taking at the next nearby SAT session.

Yeah, well... I got more than enough letters from universities from that and my six or so subject tests, but you know, I really think the SAT (and interviews) is rated too high and extracurriculars are rated too low.

But that's just me.

I was accepted to my college because of my SAT score (1690) and class rank (6th) they said.

I don't remember what my SAT score was, but I do remember I was rated very highly against the rest of the nation's SAT scores that year... I think I was in the top 4%... and I didn't study for it.  At all.  And I was a major underachiever through most of high school, so I got accepted into college on my SAT alone.

You're definitely right there. The colleges I'm looking at are usually the ones that focus on extracurricular activities and how much you actually know, rather than standardized tests and a 4.0.

I'll probably have photos of my clean self in a nice tux for prom tonight.  I missed my opportunity for covert Umineko cosplay, but that hardly matters because I never have a chance to wear a suit anyway.  It's very restricting on movement compared to casual clothes.  You are just forced into a professional posture.
