So, a friend encouraged me to make an emoticon. I'm pleased that I'm still capable of finding my way around any sort of pixel-level image editing, even if it is dead easy. I'm pretty sure I've seen it before, but I couldn't find it. Still, nothing original, and I know less than I should about the source material. Still, happy that it was so easy.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

The impressive part isn't that it dug all that but that it didn't break the brain or the doors.

Installed stalker complete and now the game doesn't run.

Yeah, I can see why this mod is needed so badly [/sarcasm]

Are you sure you installed it correctly?

Make sure you're using patch 1.0005, NOT 1.0006.

There's a variable you have to switch in a config file (I wish I could remember more specific than that).

Then you should just be able to drop the files into the mod folder and go.

Don't use sarcasm tags, they make you look more like an idiot.  You need to use front tags as well anyway.

[sarcasm]I think sarcasm tags are legitimate when your sarcasm is so deadpan it would otherwise be unlikely for people to get it.[/sarcasm]

Ok I found it.  Haven't done this in over a year, but I remember it seemed wonky when I was first getting into it.  Stalker isn't an easy game to get into.  Most people need help at first... though I guess it's not as bad as Dwarf Fortress :P

Edit your fsgame.ltx located in your S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl folder so that this line:

$game_data$ = false| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\

looks like this:

$game_data$ = true| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\

Then place the Stalker Complete files in the  (your stalker dir)\gamedata directory.  Do not make a subfolder in the gamedata dir for this mod, because the game expects a specific folder and file structure directly from the gamedata dir.

To switch out mods, all you have to do is make a different gamedata dir for every mod and switch them out.  Pretty simply.  For example, if you wanted to play Oblivion Lost mod instead of Perfect, rename the gamedata dir to "Perfect gamedata" and then make a new one for the Oblivion Lost mod.  Then all you have to do is rename folders to switch mods, by adding a label prefix to your current gamedata and removing the label from the one you want to play so that it's just "gamedata"

And make sure you use patch 1.0005, because that's what most mods support.  None support 1.0006 and only a few obscure ones support 1.0004

If you already understood all this, I don't know what to tell you.

Nah, somehow, I'm still laughing >_<

I'm happy because I'm at a big family Easter celebration, but 3/4 of the people left for a while so I can relax and get workin' on some rhetoric homeworks.  Nearly done rereading Curious Incident.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It's a funny comic and I appreciate it, but everytime I stumble upon a comic of this movie it always leaves a bad taste in my mouth, like seeing your sibling making out with somebody you don't know.

Might I suggest, Euld, that you remove such pants from your ears, and apply said pants to your posterior.

Finally got around to playing Just Cause 2.  A lot of games talk about free-roaming action and sandbox worlds.  They can all put it away.

This is GTA meets ARMA meets Oni meets SimCopter meets 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand.  I can't remember the last time I played an action game with such a huge grin plastered on my face.
