Vector didn't make the Mafia sub-forum.  I don't think she was even here when it was made by Toady.

I've never played DF.  Your conclusion operates on faulty premises.

I'm curious.  How did you end up here, having never played DF?
Vector made the Mafia sub-forum, or something like that.

The mafia subforum, from what I remember, was here longer than she was.

She did, however, come here via Mafia.

That said, I can't help but ask again, you thought about giving it a try Vector?
Or at least LCS.

Hmm, livestreaming seems to work.
However it's impossible to figure out if it does that properly, by yourself.
Quickest way to tell is to put up a link and see what happens.

This story has been told many many times.  She came for the Mafia, after hearing about how great a Mafia scene Bay12 has from elsewhere.

I guess I would probably know that if I payed any attention to Mafia.  I'm not even sure I know what it is.  Just forum roleplaying, right?

Thank you for the offer.
But I think I rather try PMing a friend here, once he is online.
Rather not make a fool of myself in public.

Extremely homicidal roleplaying, yes. You should give it a shot.

Mafia is fun, yes, but hard, especially if you're not that great at forming thoughts into words. I might've actually managed with the latest post, though.

Getting into it is frustrating, as well.
It get's more interesting once you're allowed to play with the big kids  :o

Yeah, it's just forum roleplaying. Plato was just some bald beggar. Writing is just some words mashed together any old how.

Read about the mafia party game. it's similar, but is more involved, lasts weeks, and is more intense. Very intense, done right.

Grah, more ninjas.

You can "play with the big kids" any time. The BM games are there to help you learn, not to be a fenced-off area for newbs.

It can also be a very emotionally stressful experience. People not accustomed to it often flake from the pressure.

In other news, my fanfics' traffic continues to increase.  Maybe I'll do some writing this week, because I need more characterization and stylistic practice for the novel I'm outlining.  Even my slightly off-model characterizations seem to be gaining popularity, which is what I had hoped but never thought would happen.

Also, delicious breakfast: water, fried egg, two pieces of toast, an apple, and a banana.

I'm curious.  How did you end up here, having never played DF?

My ex-boyfriend was either trying to get me out of his grill or share something he enjoyed, possibly both, and told me to go hang out on the forums/play mafia to improve my social skills.

I think it was also because he was tired of me shouting at him to stop using manipulative game theory on me; he'd been using the excuse that mafia made him do it, so getting me to go try it out would substantiate his claims that it was normal.  Or something.  I don't know.

That said, I can't help but ask again, you thought about giving it a try Vector?

I've thought about it.  I have other hobbies I'm pursuing right now, though.  Maybe after I'm done with the two VNs I'm playing and EOIII--those are basically my electronic "home for the weekend" activities of choice.

I'm a bit more interested in WWI medic.

Vector made the Mafia sub-forum, or something like that.

No, I just formalized it and created the structure within what had already been built.  And I ran a game that seems to have become somewhat (?) famous.

I guess I would probably know that if I payed any attention to Mafia.  I'm not even sure I know what it is.  Just forum roleplaying, right?

Not exactly.  It's a social/psychological game.  I wouldn't call it "just roleplaying" because there are definite win and loss conditions, and usually the players don't do any sort of fiction/story-writing in the course of it.  Generally, I'd say it's about debating, lying, sensing other people's motives, and setting traps.

Getting into it, is frustrating as well.

Also harder on your heart--if you're me, anyway >_>

I might, eventually.  Probably a bad idea, since I mainly browse these forums from work and I'm already tempted to spend way too much time here.

Plus, I've never understood the protocol behind PBEM or forum roleplay.  I've been a tabletop roleplayer since I was a little kid (my dad knew Gary Gygax), so I can't imagine not having instant dialogue.

Sometimes some highly ironic and hilarious stuff can happen too. Like when I got killed by three different people on the same night xP
