Got a few games for dirt cheap off Steam. RUSH, BIT.TRIP BEAT and Magicka. All for under $20. Gods I love Steam sales.

Realized that now that I have SharpE instead of Explorer, I can use the Windows Key for shortcuts. Set up hotkeys directly to Spelunky, Minecraft, and Dwarf Fortress.

You just know some psychologist is going to categorise an addiction to cave based games and name it after himself.

I'm not addicted to ca... damnit I'm addicted to cave games.

Two things made me happy today.

One: Saw a lady at school wearing a t-shirt with Dave's logo on it. I was sorely tempted to say something about the Knight of Time, but resisted.

Two: I have free time, GIMP, and a large pile of sketches to edit horribly mutilate further than they were when I drew them.

The existence of gimp makes me wonder why photoshop is the most pirated piece of software. It also makes me wonder why people use photoshop.

I use neither, I use Paint Shop Pro 7, I tried Paint Shop Pro 9 and it was terribad. I love this old piece of software, when I try to draw in anything else I fail horribly.

While Photoshop is better, I could never find a decent tutorial for it back when I had it, so I could never really use it. But that was like 2 computers ago, so I'm pretty much stuck with GIMP, MS Paint, or Paint.net - regardless of whether or not I had managed to gain skills with Photoshop. And I have the most experience in GIMP, so with GIMP I stay.

That is not to say I'm good with GIMP or any of the other software editors that exist. I am a terribad artist in my opinion, but it's fun. So much fun, doing something where I expect myself to fail horribly and land only marginally above that line.

This booze visually resembles blood to a surprising degree. It's hardly perfect, but at a first glance it's an interesting effect. Given some refinement, this could actually be a marketable technique, although I'd have to do enough research to ensure that my screwup of leaving some of the sediment in the wine when I bottled it because I was in a hurry won't have any adverse health effects. I already know that, if I'm unlucky, it can cause the flavor and odor to start to be really bad, so I'd need to find a strain of yeast that avoids that, etc. Still, it's an interesting idea, and I would not be even slightly surprised if there were a market.

EDIT: Also holy balls champagne yeast can push a ridiculous alcohol content. I'm certain this is >18% alcohol.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Just met a group of Huge Bugs on Jagged Alliance 2. Lucky for me, right next to where they started was a couple of fuel barrels. Grunty's Rheinmetal LMG throws out enough lead for them to be impossible not to hit, and I killed 3 in the ensuing explosion.

Love everyone's reactions to seeing them for the first time, Grunty was best though. Cute indeed...
