There's over a hundred people on and I don't recognize most of them.
Yeah, there's apparently a big division between the forums and IRC channel, incuding some hate between the two (or so I've heard). I've never bothered with the IRC channel myself, in no small part due to my lack of desire to get an IRC client.

Though at the same time, GD isn't all that bad, kiddies. I think I'd rather spend time with you guys.

Anybody who's conceited enough to believe they're better than somebody else isn't worth wasting your time on imo.

I like GD.

We have lots of cool chaps.

And, to stay on topic...

Watching random dadaist youtube videos of random things happening is rather fun.

Studying the Russian Orthodox Church for a series of extra credit assignments.

I'd forgotten how interested I've been in religion over the years.  Now I know the difference between a templum, chancel, and iconostasis, and their various histories--as well as the faiths they're associated with.

I got a 32 inch HDTV for free for my birthday.  So I guess I got the best deal so far.  Someone would have to get a larger screen for free to surpass my useless ownership.

I have a 33 inch widescreen HDTV.
I prefer my LCD monitors hooked up through HDMI.

The first anime series I finished on it was FMA: Brotherhood.  I used it for most of One Piece too and everything else I would like to watch.  I connect my laptop to it via HDMI cord.

Sounds fancy.

Yeah, they're different barriers between the nave and sanctuary (aisles and areas reserved for the priests).  Chancel is western, iconostasis Eastern, and the templum is early Eastern/Byzantine (though we have a modern equivalent in the guard rail that often appears between the nave and the main altar).  The last of those was based on the proscenium in Greek theater.

The main difference between them is transparency... chancels are usually wooden lattices that reach from floor to ceiling, whereas the iconostases are made of panels filled with religious icons (not a Poor Man's Bible, though, that's something else--these are just portraits and stuff most of the time).  Russian ones tend to be opaque, while the Greek ones are a bit thinner, and both of them usually have a gap between screen and ceiling for acoustic purposes, so that the music of the choir can pass through.

...

I really love church architecture.  After I've learned more about Russian, English, and German literary movements, I'd like to learn a lot more about churches.
