I have always been of the school of thought that says arranging sounds into music by mixing them with a computer isn't fundamentally different from arranging sounds into music by creating them with an instrument.

It does remove the necessity of training muscle-memory and a sense of timing, but if anything I think that's an improvement.

It heavily diminishes artistic value for me.
People work hard to be an great drummer or to pull of an epic guitar solo and being a good lead singer isn't easy as well.
You have a bunch of people, which need to work together and constantly practice, to deliver you something worthwhile.
