I mean, none of it is my cup of tea, but it also isn't abhorrently awful. You want some real ear cancer, how about Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima.

Depends on where it is from, many countries for some reason make good pop, while America and the west are really good at pouring out crap in their top40

What? No. I love Penderecki. It's just that song is almost physically painful to listen to. The techno stuff was just kinda bland, at worst catchy.

 Eh. There is just as much terrible pop coming from the various indie stuffs from Europe. The only difference is that our terrible pop sells well to the mainstream audience here so they get to play it more often.

Is europe not of the Westeren world anymore? America IS the prime example however, because I am instantly forced to hear crappy american music if I watch tv or go to parties, and I live in lovely tiny little Kobenhavn (I refuse to spell it the ugly english way)

Of course not, but where does that korean rap pick it's influences? They use english words in ways the make you cringe xD And do those two go on top40? because theres lots of good pop everywhere below top40

From the worst of American rap. But it's not like there isn't good American rap to draw influence from. They just produce what they do because they think it sounds good, or because they think it will be commercially successful.

And I'd be surprised if Elliott Smith never released a top 40 album.

e: Yeah, Bird especially. But Smith released at least two albums on Dreamworks. Including the album that song was from.

Unfortunately, it's still pretty unlikely.
Top 40 is less talent and more certain connections.

This is where my opinions would go. Most particularly on the word 'indie'.


Nine, Chill, and stop dissing out on everyone's music. It's ok to call it 'techno'. That is the genre. The genre is not 'factory noise pump out techno trash'.
I like all music. Which is probably why it annoys me so much when people bitch about other music. I can't see it from more distinguished people's eyes. Or, ears.
