Hrm... I think I'm going to be offline from here for a while again (read: possibly a few months), because I've realized that the previous times I've done this did me a hell of a lot of good, and in the week and a half that I spent off the computer due to lack of internet I probably learned more mathematics than I have in the past two and a half months.
Yes, really.
I love it here, but there's some talents I'd like to cultivate other than "ranting, quelling sexism, and making an ass of myself." I'll miss you all terribly.
That said, I'm setting up an email address where anyone who feels like it (or needs to, in a couple of people's cases--you know who you are) can email me: MathBeautificationSociety (at) gmail (period) com. I will also reply to absolutely necessary PMs, by which I mean PMs that say things like "I'm sitting on the steps of Sproul and bleeding my guts out. Please come make it better and cook me crepes." Also PMs that say things like "I sent you a letter a year ago. Where are you, Vector?"
This is because I have been proven extremely good at ignoring email, but terrible at ignoring forums. So, don't expect replies for a while, but I'll try to get to you. Yes, I will also answer the occasional math problem. I almost wrote "I will also do fly-by chew-outs for anyone who needs sexism help, provided that you link me," but Life Advice seems to only be stupid about once every 1.5 months now, so I figure you guys can more than take care of yourselves. I need a break from that anyway.
I also remember last time I said I was thinking about this, that I mentioned something about the possibility of snail-letters. If you're interested, send by an email and we can talk about it. The letters I've sent to other people from here seem to have a 2-month+ turnaround, so it's not like it's chewing up much time.
This statement is in the happy thread because I'm glad to have realized this before it bit me in the ass, and I'm also glad that all of the projects I had here which I felt needed my attention are largely self-monitoring nowadays. All right~!
And you can be sure I'll be back, because we have similar film taste and I want to watch a lot of movies at some point. Once I speak Russian and German like a pro, and can remember how to French and Japanese enough to put a big dent in my bookshelves.
Because French and Japanese are cannons outlawed under today's laws of war.
