I also wrote a number of my essays the day they needed to be submitted.

Universities I was accepted to: Cornell, Oberlin, Cal, UC Davis, UC San Diego (all in mechanical engineering or undeclared).
Universities I was not accepted to: Harvard, Brown, Princeton.

yea i was a bit stupid in high school so the chances of even being accepted was... nil. course if i finish community college for one year with GPA 2.5 im guaranteed entrance (what a rip)

I haven't done any actual applications yet, but I've been getting mail from all sorts of places. I did just register for an informational course about the University of British Columbia, three hours before it was due. Right now I'm typing a short two-page (holy crap did I just say that?) essay on the Middle Passage. Due: two hours.

Now, to be more directly on topic, I'm happy that I've been able to use the little red flag on my mailbox for the first time in forever. In the past two weeks I've been getting two or three letters a day from colleges. Some of them are actually pretty nice, even.

Favorites thus far: Dartmouth University, UBC, UC Berkeley, Columbia University, M.I.T., Stanford, and Yale.

Finished my Assignment for Computer Science, the marking score is 0/5 for not doing what is asked of you, 5/5 for doing everything and 10/5 for doing more.

The things that he suggested for doing more I did on first day of work, and since then made a game to fit into the project.

fortunately i do not have the attention span needed for those guys. if i really wanted to be a brainiac i go to CU across the street, at least i would be able to fiddle around with NASA instruments.

Yeah, I was courted by pretty much everyone.  If you haven't gotten a letter from Harvard, you aren't missing anything.  They're the most horrible snobs even when they're trying to get you to sign up, though they've finally started being a bit nicer now that so many people committed suicide after being rejected by them.

I plan on applying because they sent me an email about letting me apply for free, but only so that I can say I was accepted there. I really don't want to go to Harvard. Oberlin college's email was kind of like what you described.

"Hey, we saw that you play in your high school's wind ensemble, so we're considering letting you apply here. If you do, you'll only have to pay $75,000 a year. For this price, you get the glorious honor of going to our school and, if you don't suck, you might get to join a band!"

Smartest guy I know didn't get in, even, and he certainly deserved it more than I would have.
