While it doesn't explain why sex in media is frowned upon, there are two major reasons violence is ok.

1.  Violence is the most direct representation of conflict, which is the most basic requirement of a story.  It's also the easiest to offer a player interaction with and evoke adrenaline response.
2.  One major purpose of games is to provide simulation of things that we can't/wouldn't do in real life.  Otherwise, we'd go do it in real life.

Eh, and then there's always the argument that sex is tantamount to an act of violence and conflict, which is an interpretation I've seen in a few places.

I'd say that's a ridiculous interpretation, save for circumstances where violence is actually involved.  I'd have to agree more with Salmon's description; it's not really possible to make an entertaining presentation of sex as a "game", because it's not really an activity that translates into pointing and clicking.  Violence comes in many, easily presented forms, and is a lot easier to make comedic and essentially "harmless".

Yeah, I actually used to think that way a really long time ago.  Not so much anymore.  Though I still wonder about how much actors involved in sexual content are willing vs leveraged.  See Perfect Blue for worst case scenario.

Yeah, I'm using FireFox, so I clicked the FireFox one and saved the "xpi" file.  Computer doesn't know what to do with it.  So I Googled the extension, and figured out how to install it.

If you're making a general purpose thing, intended for an audience as "mass" as "anyone using a web browser", your thing should be as easy to install as possible.  If I have to look up the file extension to know what to do with it, or indeed follow any instructions at all, you've done your job wrong.  Which I suppose is the kind of elitism I should expect for a browser-extension developer that doesn't support Internet Explorer.

In case it isn't clear, I'm a very bitter and spiteful Luddite when it comes to computer stuff.  And Luddites massive outnumber you people who know what you're doing, so you're supposed to cater to us.

its a .xpi file, not a .exe
