New computer rig is up and running! Went through a serious happy-sad rollercoaster with this one.

HAPPY: Shiny, new, fast parts!
SAD: That didn't fix my original problem.
HAPPY: Hey, I can just throw an old video card in there for the time being.
SAD: All my old cards are AGP and this mobo doesn't have an AGP slot.
HAPPY: My buddy has a pair of GeForce 8800 GTS cards sitting around gathering dust, and he let me have them.
SAD: Can't SLI them because the mobo is ATI.
HAPPY: Oh well, it's still an upgrade. Now to get all drivers on.
SAD: Missing /system32/config/system. F**k you, Microsoft.
HAPPY: Hey, found a way to restore the registry using recovery console!
SAD: Now the license keys don't match up because it's a (different) pirate copy of XP.


At any rate, one full reinstall of Windows later, it's up, it's running and dear sweet fluffy Jesus it's fast.  :o

shit christ its zero degrees here. fuck that orientation meeting today, im going on wednesday. i just had sent two hours shoveling snow to get my dad ready to roll over to Wyoming for work, hes going to be gone for a week then transfer over to Utah for months, gonna get pretty lonely here until i go to school but man thats a long time to see my father again.... wonder if skype will work for my sister's netbook.

I hallucinated that the world was minecraft. It was only because of neeeeeded sleep and not because of drugs. Because they aren't cool.
