I just realized the obvious thing:

"If you're nice to people, you can probably waste less time because you don't have to spend time arguing, and when you need a friend you don't have to either spend time being depressed about the lack of one or working forever at getting one, only to find that once you've finally made friends you don't need or want one anymore."

This sounds stupid, but it is a big step.  Now I have a reason to be nice to people beyond "because that is the Right Thing to Do and you wouldn't like it if people were mean."  It's easier to do things when there's a little bit of personal advantage beyond fuzzy altruism.


Also, my breakfast was not only edible this morning, but delicious.  I sort of stirfried an egg and half an onion around, and wow... it wasn't burnt or overcooked, it didn't stick to the pan... thank the heavens for cast iron.

And playing Fallout 3, growing a little annoyed at everyone in town telling me a door is locked and giving me snooty looks for even looking in its general direction. I didn't know it was locked, stop treating me like a criminal. I mean yeah I will come back when you are not looking and steal everything of value, but you don't know that.

Being nice is cool. It's not like there aren't times when I want to be an asshole, or when I lapse, but yeah, it's useful in that I haven't really fought with anyone in like 3 years and hey, I'm popular, but it depends on the person, I suppose. If you enjoy being an asshole and human contact means nothing to you, or if you just enjoy being an asshole in moderation, then being nice constantly probably isn't for you.

Luckily I have the internet to quench my asshole thirst so I can act like a normal human being in real life. Thank you, internet! I fucked your mother!

Same figurine is 180 dollars on JList, and still ships from Japan.
Also has a smaller selection of stuff than pretty much every other site.
Further proof you shouldn't use the middle-man just because he speaks English.
