I think it's faked.

Several counts of repeated all-too-forgiving gullibility, knowledge of computer hardware (Hard Drive and its inner bits) inconsistent with apparent ignorance on common HD bricking methods, constantly changing monitors, and an insistence that all he wanted to do was to learn how to Triforce.

Though that would have been a horribly evil and gremlinish thing to do to a kid... given that it's pretty obviously farcical, it's got a schadenfreude sort of humor to it. Oh anonymity. What horrors do you legitimize?

I think it's pretty clear that the guy is just acting for the entertainment of /b, showing that trolling can somehow go both ways kind-of-I-don't-really-know-how-to-classify-it. Perhaps Double-Quadruple-Reverse Trolling. It's certainly some form of metatrolling, whatever it is.

Faked or not, it was funny to read. Makes my past device breakings during my childhood look tame. At least in prior cases, they were easy enough to repair, or the devices I broke entirely (one way or another) were usually joysticks/controllers. Older machines (Commodore 64 era) needed the disk drive loader lever thing repaired (forced closed or opened a bit too much, or fighting over what games to play).

But yeah, why would anyone be stupid enough to fall for that, and then seek more advice from the same people that tricked them into breaking it in the first place to fix it?

I hope for the sake of the hopefully "victim" that they were a troll. Otherwise, RIP.

So, finally got around to getting to my mail box.
Waiting for me were two sets of vinyl Qwerty/Russkiy keyboard stickers that I bought myself and a book of manga short stories from He Who Flees from the Sun.
Awesome.

You should start reading out loud from it. It's not like anything bad could happen, right?

Birthday four weeks before Christmas, two celebrations. I was in Maine for the past few weeks visiting my father, and just got back home today.

In particular, read any incantations, chants, words of power, etc. you find in there. All that stuff is obviously fake, prove that the Elder Evils are lies once and for all!

I'm too tired to read it tonight. Not too tired for the forums, but the book is three inches thick and rather intimidating.

Just played and beat Indiana Jones and The Fate of Atlantis going the smarts path. I beat that pretty quickly (3 hours for an adventure game on DOS).

IQ (Indy Quotient): 588 on first finish.

588 out of what?
I forget. Maybe out of 1200 or 1800 or something. Seeing as there are 3 paths in the game to take. The score is stackable.

Other paths:
Aggression- Mostly fighting involved. Every fight contributes to IQ. (Usually the harder approach. There are a couple fights where the enemy has a godly amount of life. impossible to win I suppose, though I got close on one or two occasions. Can't sucker-punch them out either (which subtracts score too BTW).)
Team- With Sophia, it's a mix of Smarts and Aggression. (Generally regarded as the "easy path".)
Smarts (my path)- Mostly thinking outside the box, and avoiding battles as much as possible. Got caught in a few possible fights, so that may have brought my score down. According to my score, I think I had a total of 6 run-ins (curse you Atlantean hallways). Sounds about right.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
