Just returned from 2 days of party-ness. Holy crap, good times.

I had a bunch of old friends in town, and we all got together at a gorgeous home in the suburbs north of town, snagged good pizza and several boxes of Magic: The Gathering booster card packs to divy among players (from whatever new set is out now), and set about reliving the good old days by having a Sealed Deck tournament. It was ridiculously fun with 12+ people, and afterward we then had a series of Free-For-Alls and Team matches.

By the time we were done, it was midnight, and unbeknownst to us we'd been getting freezing rain all night. When everyone made to head home, everything outside was coated in an inch of ice. We couldn't go anywhere... the area was all hills and narrow paved roads, and I literally had to slide down the hill on my ass just to get to my car. Instead, we all went back inside and hung out; some people crashed on huge couches and lounge chairs, and the rest of us chatted and played games until 8AM, when city crews finally started salting the roads, and clearing up the ice.

That brought me to yesterday morning, when I crashed in one of these incredible lounge-chairs for a few hours, and then left for a New Years Eve LAN-party at another friend's house. We spent the evening playing StarCraft II, hanging out, and watching RoboCop and Demolition Man. There was some rather tasty booze involved, and general good times to be had by all. At about 4AM we finally wound things down, and all just crashed on the floor (beanbag chairs make incredible beds/pillows, BTW).

Just getting back now. Happy 2011 all!

Hm. I wonder if it's a sign of mental imbalance that I was more interested in trying to read the sheet music in that picture than looking at the rest of it. Is that actually a song, or did the artist just make it up?

I seem to have succeeded in ambushing my circadian rhythm, bludgeoning it over the head, and pushing its reset button while it wasn't looking. This makes me very happy, because actually getting to see sunlight really improves my mood.

Other than that, I finished A Prayer for Owen Meany a couple nights ago, which was very good, and I've been doing better on the mathematical maturity front, which is also nice.  It's good to feel less like I'm bashing my head against a brick wall.
