Well, I kinda late-gifted my brothers (through Steam), but I got us Archon:Classic to play against each other in. This is gonna be fun. It also felt nice to get them a good few games (a couple in their wishlist as well) during the sale. Nothing too over-the-top.

Also, the rest of the night has gone well enough. I discovered that my departure date is off by a couple days; so make that the 30th I'll be out for a few days from, not 28th. YAY!

Oh yeah, something awesome at my family Christmas party.  I got to hang out with my five-years-older-than-me uncle for the first time in a couple years.  He's been on the rocks most of his life, but he's always a cool dude.  I probably owe my modern nerdiness to him more than anyone, for doing awesome shit like showing me how to play Daggerfall and taking me to see Beavis and Butthead Do America when I was nine and he was fourteen.

We sat around comparing our get-rich-quick schemes and career employment plans.  He proved awesome again with a brilliant idea for an alcohol-delivery-service.  Obviously a purely local business model, so steal it if you want.  This is the kind of family I come from.

The best part of my party was watching Mega Piranha with my dad, because I found it in the $3 movie bin and gave it to him. For being an action movie, it was the best comedy I've seen in years.

Yeah, that was my first problem with the idea.  By definition, you're delivering to probably-habitual drunks.  If you don't actually get robbed, you'll probably get a lot of people, at best, promising to totally pay you back later you know they're good for it.

Getting a liquor license is another hitch.  But hey, details.

I made the annual Christmas Conflagration. In half an hour, shit gets real. Family tradition is to run a fire from midnight Christmas night to New Years, and party hardy every night. Gentlemen, if I don't make it out alive/sober, remember me as I once was/don't lose your opinion of me if I post shit-faced.

You should have a 'Cash Ready On Delivery' clause. So that they can't do that to you.

Although settling change would be a bitch. And no Eftpos. That just complicates things.

So, you've got to assess the losses you'd make from wasted trips, versus the surcharge you can put on the delivery of alcohol, as well as the extra money you can get off by bulk-buying alcohol. All-in-all, I think you'd win out. People tend to pay through the nose in order to avoid having to drive on a friday night when the cops are just EVERYWHERE.
