Reading Tropes and came across some historic tropes like Technology Marches On and so forth. Makes me happy to a degree since it reminds me just how much of these I actually experienced, or still have "artifacts" of.

Hell, somewhere in my room, I still have 5¼ floppy disks (B:\) from back when the household owned a 386 computer, and some Commodore 64 disks as well (Maybe some old Compute's Gazette disks from way back). Hell, I still have a container full of 3½ floppies (A:\) my older brother had which still have Doom2, Commander Keen, and Supaplex and etc. still on them and fully functional, though I lack a drive that can process any of these classic media. I know they should still work, seeing as they're still in good order, and look pretty well preserved. I think I still have a box full of classic Sega Master System games as well. Too bad the lightgun is missing; it still looks cool, dated as it is nowadays. The thing was modeled after the gun featured in Zillion.

Surprisingly, these tropes are reminding me why I'm playing nothing but classics (Genesis and SNES at least) and games from the N64 and PS1 eras with my nephew. At least someone in the next generation should understand better than the rest what we used to play, break controllers to, and have feuds over back then. Also it seems to bring out my inner child and get all nostalgic for some classic playing.

Watched the Total Lunar Eclipse. Worth dealing with the cold, especially to see some of the stars fade in and out of visibility before becoming clear.

Thanks for the heads-up! Despite the hellish cold, I ducked out onto the porch in my pajamas to check it out.

There's a barely visible red-black sphere, which I presume was once the moon. May the gods have mercy on we mortals, and may we be spared whatever fel omen this blood-red Nethermoon portends.
