I think what this all comes down to  in the end is popular opinion, and if the mewtants outnumber you (and they don't sufficiently irritate our incredihuge Apathy contingent), they win. Nobody is forcing you to read this thread, and I honestly doubt it spawns too many reports for its post rate, except when we have someone bitching about how many reports it gets.

Heck, "Don't pick fights" appears to be exactly what started this.  For the record, I've clicked the report button about four or five times in the more than two years I've been here, all of them genuine spammers and adbots.  I get irritated as much as anybody, but I'm not going to waste anyone's time with reports, especially for things that look like someone else would probably do so.  That's my advice to everyone - before clicking "report", think about how likely it is someone else already did.
