I guess the zombie apocalypse is in the spirit of All Hallows' Eve.
Goddammit, why do I have to go to work now?  This is the best idea.

Four hours out from D.C.  Janet has the fever and Toony caught dysentery, and now a fog's rolling in.  What an awesome road trip this is going to be.

So there's an XBL update, and at first I'm like okay, whatever.
Then it takes forever and I get slightly annoyed.
When it updates, it prompts me with a fucking tutorial.
This is the point where I put on my peeved face and press Y to cancel.
New interface, less sleek, but more minimalist.
Operates the same way, so I wonder, what the fuck is the deal with the tutorial?
Then I open up Netflix and my eyes light up.
All anger and annoyance had been erased.
Why?
Because they added a search function.
A fucking search function.
Finally.
I am so fucking happy that I'm using the word fuck more than once in a monologue outside of a sexual context.

That was two hours well spent.  There were quite a few harrowing days, when we spent long hours beside the long road from Memphis to Albuquerque, futilely searching for food to buy time to search for food to trade for gas.  Everybody was bitten by a zombie at least once, usually within an hour of leaving town, and Janet must have gotten every disease in the book.  Except the zombifying disease.  Reached Oregon with five living people and the station wagon never broke down once.  Good thing too, because a fire got all (six of) my bullets right outside of town.

Everybody seemed to really like mufflers in that game for some reason. I swear, at least a quarter of the traders were offering or wanting mufflers for trade. Mostly offering them though. Has anybody actually found a time where any spare parts have been used at all?

I honestly didn't use a single one. I gave up in the middle though, got bored. Would've made it if I had the patience.

But yeah, they do seem to have a thing for mufflers.

I dunno, you guys have survived Thomas the tank engine, golems, zombies, nuclear explosions, laser whales, and being on the same team as ragnarock.  I don't think something as tame as a world ending rain of lava will even slow you guys down.

All the people you meet on the side of the road do have an unhealthy obsession with mufflers (six cans of gas for a muffler?  thanks for getting me across the southwest dumbass).  They are actually used though.  You'll notice that if you have any car-parts in your inventory, they tick off once in a while.  I assume there's some kind of "maintenance" check, and if you don't have the parts, something bad happens.  Even if I can't imagine how a car would break down for want of a glass-pack.  But yeah, I mostly treated them as trade goods.  (Especially after all my money caught fire.)

Netflix has had a search function for as long as I've had it.

Christ how does this keep happening. Goddam use a wallet people or something that way the money is only an issue if your pants catch on fire. And if your pants catch on fire you have bigger problems than the money.

You also get an "event" or whatever on the road, something about how your car needed a new [spare part]. Don't know what happens if you don't have the right kind on hand. Car breaks down? Scavengetime?
