When the modding is just text files and there are comparatively few tags to use it gets easy. My god do I love DF modding.

I'm not having quite so easy a time, but I keep getting distracted.  I'm still really fuzzy on changing body plans at different ages, if that's really possible.  I bet there's threads about this stuff.

Nope. That sort of thing will be handled by castes when we get growth cycles. Right now it's pretty much impossible, besides changing descriptors and tissue thickness based on time.

Ah, so bodies are not caste-dependent?  Or at least changeable by caste.  Okay, at least that makes things simpler.

The issue isn't between bodies and castes - you can add parts to castes all you like - but castes and time passing. It's currently impossible to switch from one caste to another with age, which is why we can't have larvae or anything. Non-growth-dependant sexual dimorphism and such is fine.

If you change the weighting of that so the ears are always longish, and maybe raise the importance, eg:

Then that'll basically guarantee that you'll end up with long ears. Describing them as pointy is a bit more tricky, but you could always just add something to the description line about it.

What I do know is that you can't turn water really hot and red while making magma be room-temperature and blue. Durn hard-coding, ruining my plans for magma-equivalent-rainstorms.

Seriously, 1/7 tiles of magma flying from above to splash across the ground would be terrifying.

I think it just doesn't want to talk about ears. They never show in the descriptive text. Though for a second there an accident made them have the possibility to have upturned nose BRIDGES.
