I'll be departing on my vacation soon.

Have a nice week, everyone!

So I'm back now.

Can anyone give me a short summary of what I have missed, while I was gone?

I dunno, you guys have survived Thomas the tank engine, golems, zombies, nuclear explosions, laser whales, and being on the same team as ragnarock.  I don't think something as tame as a world ending rain of lava will even slow you guys down.

okay, when light goes through a raindrop, it get bent, and different colors get bent different amounts, so a raindrop viewed at a certain angle looks a certain color.

when you have a whole shitload of them, they kinda all merge together, forming visible rings of color.

when the light just goes straight through the raindrop, you get a halo. these aren't usually visible, since they look like a smallish ring around the sun, and that's bad to look at, but you can sometimes see them around the moon, or artificial lights.

however, some of the light bounces around a bit when leaving the raindrop, resulting in a larger in away from the sun. this is a rainbow, though you generally don't see a whole ring unless you're flying.

if the light is strong enough, the light can bounce twice in the raindrop, making a third, larger, but fainter, ring, with the colors reversed. this is the second rainbow that I took a picture of.

Watching the "First Contact" episode of TNG, where the Federation goes down and says hi to an ailen race that hasn't gotten into space yet.

I tend to see a lot of sundogs (is that really what you call them?) driving down 675 and I-75, along with when I'm at the pool. They look great, especially with sunglasses on. They're usually too faint to see them without them, unless you spotted them with the glasses on first.

Those patches of rainbow in the clouds? Yeah, that's their name. Always cool to see them.

Seconded.
My biology knowledge really isn't up to date, after not having it for 6 years.
I'd really like refreshing my knowledge and expand on it.

Edit: Too slow :o But thank you for the link.

It's mainly just pictures of fungi (SO COOL), parasites (OH YEAH!), sea critters (WHOO!), and now as of today, bacteria and diseases (SHIT THATS RAD).

It's kinda fun maintaining a theme blog. It also let's me learn about a lot of bizarre animals like the shrike, or the spiny newt! Also, I love seeing all the odd and horrifying parasites that exist in the world.

I'm a bio (pre-med) major. I bet you can figure out why.
