Heard an interview with William Gibson on the local NPR station, cause he's in town for a book reading.

Yay for mind-expanding chit-chat on my lunch break.

Oh damn, thanks for reminding me he's here tonight.

Why's there an axe blade on the part of the handle where you grip it?
It's kind of obvious there's a hole there so you can hold it there.

Um...

How?

Unless you were holding it from the side, it wouldn't work. And if you were holding it from the side, the hammer wouldn't work.

And holding an axe at the very end of the handle is a good way to lose control of the axe.

It made me happy to hear from someone that's just a bit more than a stranger to me that she liked how confidently I debated a week ago, and thought that I was good at both debating and speaking English.

What we're trying to say is that there's no way that hammer would be anything more than completely useless.

This brohammer is obviously a tool designed for use in masochistic rituals...if you manage to wield it without slicing your fingers you can celebrate by bashing yourself in the face.

I dunno, maybe it's smaller than it looks. If it were, the axe handle would clearly be an excellent bottle opener.
