I was browsing through all my upcoming events on Facebook, and giggled a bit when I saw this at the bottom.

I finally saved up enough to get that NOS Parker 21 Super that I wanted. I've never tried any hooded nibs, so this'll be a first. Probably going to order it on Saturday, or something.
Is that the pen?

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking.

That's what it is looks like, but I'll probably get in in another colour and it'll be in better shape (as it's NOS, or New Old Stock). As you can see it has a cover on the nib, which is the bit of metal that you write with in a fountain pen. I'd have preferred a Parker 51 to be honest, but that's out of my budget right now.

That's pretty cool, what do you use them for?

All kinds of stuff. Since the one I have my eye on is a NOS, I'll have to be careful with it but I'll certainly use it. They're like most other pens; you write, scribble etc. Just don't drop 'em. They're gaining more of a luxury goods status now, and that probably prevents people from using them as much. Still popular in Germany though.

If I find, say, a minty uninked (not even used yet) celluloid 149 (They made that version sometime in the 60s or 80s, almost four times MSRP or the modern ones) or an equally minty uninked DJ Parker 51 with an Empire cap to boot (one of the rarest caps) I'd probably place it in a shrine and admire it all day.

And I haven't even gotten started with how pen-crazy we can get...

Buster Keaton is a comedic genius. Watched Sherlock Jr. for a film class and still chuckling.

Wow, that's impressive. I gave that forum a quick read, I didn't there was so much to those old pens. I find paying $70 for a pen a bit too much, but the last real fountain pen I saw was when gramps made me one out of a feather when I was a kid. I've also always preferred a good no. 2 over all those fancy inks. Still, that's some pretty impressive stuff you have there.

Also, I found a bus that'll take me home pretty quickly and it makes me happy.

I am happy I passed the electronic test for the Homeland Security job and now have a contingent offer. If I can ace the interview, I believe I'll be set for the job.

The next two weeks will be spent practising interviews and getting comfortable with stage performances.

Eh, who said you had to pay $70? There's $8 fountain pens that work just as well, if ya know where to look.  ;)

And the feather thingee is called a quill by the way.
